I want to know that as well.
But I also want to know.
1) Does NP recruit? Or do the kids in the area get to select their school or does this just happen to be random kids in that school district? I'm thinking the latter is unlikely.
2) Remind everyone the shoes are a factor here. If it's not for the shoes, there is probably only 2 sub-4s.
Hammond High had 3-su-9 guys on the same team way back in teh 1970s in way shittier shoes and they didn't even have a HS track. More on Hammond below.

It must be, right? Only so many U.S. high schoolers have run faster, and they tend to be Seniors. After this race, one can start to wonder if Nico is even the biggest running talent in the family!
Best of luck to the youngsters.
843 sophomore. Record?
Did shoes give him 10 seconds or something?
Is this a Situation where several extremely talented runners just happened to live in that Schools attendance area? or did they Recruit and/or Have a Coach who is so good parents of Distance Runners move into that area as it would be good for their kids running, Do they have an age group Track Team that is outstanding and feeds the High School?

United States age 16
8:45.8 2 mile. That can't be right.
8:42.7 3200 conversion ?
Two Leo Young's in the Sophomore class?
Is this right?

Cole Sprout’s 8:49 should be the record, even converted it seems like Young should blow past that.

The Young brothers are America's Ingebretsens. Guarantee NAU will get both of Nico's siblings.
No. Nico will be like Noah Lyles and get a contract for all 3 of them in 2 years.
North port hs had the same in the early 2010s they had 3 all in the same race first team to do so
The district is huge. And it’s a nice neighborhood to grow up in so lots of parents are happy to move there to help their kids get better. No one is recruited.
3200
They don’t recruit. Newbury Park HS has something like 2500 students and when you mix that with an amazing team culture and all the other factors this is what you get.

How do you know they don’t recruit? Only the coach, the athletes and their families from outside the school boundaries really know.
