Similarly, the reason Boris Johnson got elected is primarily because the 'red wall' came tumbling down, and the reasons for that include above all the white middle-class progressive disdain for and abandonment of the white working class. Who would have thought that working class people would stop voting for a party dominated by wealthy private school types who absolutely despised them?
Working class people are not overwhelmingly white. A larger percentage of working class people are non-white compared to the overall population.
Young people, minorities and those living in urban areas (where the jobs are post-deindustrialization) still vote for left and liberal parties.
It's not the people who are voting differently but the locations they are voting from.
