Shootings are surging in 2021, no doubt. Why? New leadership? More national coverage? People are choosing to use their guns to kill more often? Increased and neglected mental illness?

Yep. Social unrest. More issues leads to people acquiring cognitive distortions which in turn affect their way of thinking and actions.
The way I see it, this is a sign things are returning to normal in America!
Need to get rid of guns tht can hold 30 or more rounds and do great machine un impersonation. Joe Pubic doesn't need that kind of weapon. The military/law, sure!

Perhaps shootings are still roughly the same but reporting of shootings are up.
Shootings are surging during the Covid surge. There's a race to get victims to hospitals, sometimes in hotspot areas which are near capacity. If taking busses, here's hoping they don't plunge down a cliff.
It's because the NRA has not found a cure for mental illness yet. Hopefully soon.
I'm sure the left will find a way to have them counted as COVID deaths instead of shooting fatalities to help support the COVID narrative and deflect attention away from the failures of the defund the police movement. Unless the person is shot by a cop while resisting arrest. Then they will milk it for all it's worth.

Social unrest has been ramping up over the decades regardless of who is sitting in the White House. Seems incredibly simplistic and dumb to view it that way. The way i see it, both left and right has legitimate issues that politicians flat out refuse to address. They aren’t gonna help us..
