Justin Gatlin is back and racing in florida? Is he cheating, or does the sun never set on this man's career?

They're pretty much all on something. Gatlin is the scapegoat. I root for him. Pretty incredible to still be at the top at his age, even after they tried to get him out of the sport. I give him a lot of credit. The haters are just angry people.

ok so that's one way to look at it.... but why is he still competing while so many other sprinters have stopped by that age? Talent or better products?

I think some people just have exceptional genes and desire.

Lagat was on Olympic teams past 40.. Actually he was 41.

39 is young in comparison.

Carlos Lopes was world xc champion at 38.

What Gatlin is doing is unusual, but not unheard of.

Justin Gatlin is the greatest USA 100/200m sprinter we have. The guy is amazing. He has it all, the times the accomplishments, the rankings and that longevity at the top.

Funny thing is he started out ss a 300 hurdle in HS.

He’s been getting tested far too much to be cheating these past ten years. Now maybe here at the end of his career he’ll be tempted again but who knows.

And in his defense, he got popped in competition.

That would be super sloppy drug use.

A part of me does think he was set up.

For MEN SPRINTERS, it's pretty unheard of.

I need to see what he can actually do leading up to Trials before I accept him as a legit contender for one of the top 3 spots, but to deny he is a threat for one would be ignorant.

I dont know what to say about his career, drugs, etc. It's all too complicated and layered throw any blanket statements about him out there.

For me, you know what the biggest and clearest indictment of him is? Frankly, he should have beat Bolt at the 2015 Worlds and in Rio, but CHOKED and he blew it pretty bad. ESPECIALLY in reference to 2015 Worlds; Bolt didn't WIN it so much as Gatlin LOST it by falling apart on the last 10 meters. For a guy who is supposed to be a clutch vet (Gatlin), that result is....embrassing. So, to me, he's got all kinds of weird aura about him. Cheat. Champ. Fast. Choke. Longevity. I dunno. Crazy story.

But he's had a stellar career, to be sure. I can denigrate him all I want but he HAS golds and sub 9.8 results. So. Yin and yang on trying to trash him.

Haters? He's been busted twice in his career. Are you ok with confirmed dopers competing?

This guy BEAT world record holding double olympic champion Usain Bolt in 2017. Young kid Usain then retired to pasture doing who cares what. An immortal ex-doper should follow up that boss achievement by retiring too?

Kim Collins has already blazed the trail of not being slow after 40. The game has changed. Gatlin's doing what he likes to. Catch him if you can!

All of the sprinters are on something, but it's less impressive that sprinters like him can still compete when you know they are doped to the gills. He probably has the same testosterone levels he had when he was 20. And that's due to drugs.

I am a quiet Justin Gatlin fan. The dude is a beast and receives a lot of global hate which is not something many people experience in their lives. Most of us get to go about our days without people writing about us online. His first ban was for Adderall in college, which means little to me. He did his time for the steroid use and handled the disgusting fan reaction to his 2017 win with a lot of grace. I hope he is able to continue running for as long as he wants. Yohan Blake, Asafa Powell, Tyson Gay, and many others who have run in the range of times that Gatlin has have also been busted for doping, and far more recently, but no one calls them terrible human beings. I don't think I've ever seen much criticism for Blake and Asafa, from anyone really. Drug use is a rampant problem, and it's not like Gatlin is the Lance Armstrong of track, truly behaving like a villain. More concerning to me is drug use in the middle distance events where I believe it has the most profound effects. Kiprop's EPO bust did much more to shake my confidence in the sport than any sprinting ban I've seen.

I'll admit to a grudging admiration for his longevity

The assumption being that everyone in the 100m is doped anyhow

Everyone in prison is a criminal. Does that make it right! They might all be cheating but we know he is.

You can't run as fast clean as on steroids.

He did zero time for fraud just a ban. He kept the money he stole and is back on the juice. Nobody can perform the same off it. Otherwise why dope and get banned. .

He took the glory so should take the criticism. He never admitted doping either.

Of course he gets pass on here because he is American.

I could forgive someone in regular life but not as an athlete.
