He is 39 and has a career spanning 2 decades. In his case, I don't think there's been much of a rise and fall--he was world championships, then got banned from 2006-2010 (ballooned up big time), then came back and won 2017 world outdoor 100m as Bolt's career was ending. This guy has raced multiple generations of sprinters and has been a contender at world champs foreeever.
He got boo'ed and awkward applause when he won gold in 2017. I don't think most fans take him seriously since his ban (which, again, was FIFTEEN years ago). So did he become a new man and stop cheating his way to the top? Or did he just get better at not getting caught?
Personally, I have a really hard time respecting anything he has done in his career. Maybe I should be more forgiving, but I'll be rolling my eyes into the next dimension if he's representing USA in Tokyo this summer.
