Agreed. What were your 400m splits for your 800? The optimal way to run an 800 is like 49%/51% with respect to your overall time.
So a 2:01 optimized is around 59.3 for the first lap and 61.7 for the second. If you ran your 2:01 closer to even, that means you have potential for an even faster 800 as well as a faster 400.
Next time you’re doing those 27 second 200s, go a full 400 on the 3rd or 4th one. You’ll be warmed up, and I’d bet you go 54-55 pretty easily.
