Yeah, but he denies any wrongdoing. And he's a good christian, so he must be telling the truth.

O.K. kiddies - catch your breath for a moment. It's only an indictment. Let the legal system play out. A jury will determine whether the law was broken or not. There are lots of Democrats who were indicted for stuff also and the charges were found to be rather baseless. In fact, one Southern gentleman recently got to stay in the White House for two full terms despite some indictments!
Not to mention the fact that this prosecutor has abused his office in the past for political vendettas. The case against Delay will be thrown out just as the past trumped-up charges to Kay Bailey Hutcheson.
This is not how the legal system is supposed to work.
Why, I remember that ol snake when he was just bustin cockroaches in Sugar Land. Heard tell that he'd done a little Naked Lunch thing on occasion, maybe that clouded his judgement just a tad.

Political vendettas against whom?
"Yet, The Washington Post's Jeffrey Smith reported last year that "Earle, an elected Democrat who oversees the state's Public Integrity Unit, previously prosecuted four elected Republicans and 12 Democrats for corruption or election law violations."
And the Associated Press reported last December that Earle had prosecuted some of the biggest Democratic names in the state, including, "former Texas House Speaker Gib Lewis, former Texas Attorney General Jim Mattox, former State Treasurer Warren Harding and former Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Yarbrough."
In any case, a grand jury returned the indictment against delay, not the prosecutor. so it was the people who decided there was enough evidence to seek trial, not simply a rouge prosecutor!
can we PLEEAASE get back to some Caroline Bierbaum talk?
What's Fox "news" going to do now? How will the republican propaganda channel spin this? I'll bet they're hoping for another blond teenager to be kidnapped so they can spend an inordinate amount of airtime focusing on that, hoping that the easily swayed masses will forget that we have the most corrupt government ever to disgrace this country.

Funny stuff! Fox has already started the spin. Every time they mention the story they focus heavily on intro-ing it as "DEMOCRATIC prosecutor indicts Tom Delay, who DENIES ALL CHARGES." Basically the Repubs are doing what they always do to anyone who challenges their methods and ethics: they character assasinate the person. So in this case, it is the prosector who is getting it. He is a "rogue" prosector who is an "arch Liberal" and who once had the gall to bring charges against Kay Bailey Hutchinson (or whatever her name is). Of course they fail to mention, or at least downplay, the fact that this prosector (as others have pointed out) has indicted far more Democrats than Republicans during his tenure. Just a minor detail that gets in the way of their "the charges are partisan pay-back" angle that they are playing.
Fox has spent 1000x more hours on investigating the evil Kofi Annan than they ever will on this Delay story.

To be true con-speak, that should be DEMOCRAT prosecutor (yes, it's childish, but they think it's clever). I'm surprised FOX would slip up like that.
Ronnie Earl has brought a very shaky indictment. Conspiracy is easy to bring, hard to convict on. I would peg DeLay's chances of it being thrown out as 50/50. Conviction almost no chance.
Kofi Annan DESERVES to be investigated by Fox News. What a corrupt loser that guy is.
Fox News is the only true source for me, fair and balanced as they say.
If you want to go a bit beyond the "headline" of Delay indicted, read Chris Matthews' interview with Delay on www.msnbc.com. It's linked right there on the front page. Chris Matthews is a hard-nosed Democrat, worked for former speaker Tip O'Neill.

It appears that the next member of the Republican leadership to be charged with a crime will be Sen. Bill Frist. In Frist's case, it's the Martha Stewart offense (insider trading), involving a significant amount of Hospital Corporation of America stock.
Don't know if you count them as "leadership" or not but Rove and Libby are going to be indicted at the end of Oct for Plamegate.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. If the Dems had any power they'd be doing the exact same things.
If you have been in Texas very long, you know not to pay mush attention to Ronnie Earl. He will indict his Grandma if he can make a buck or get some ink out of the deal.

Be-uuuu-tiful. A true brain-washed Republican robot. I'm not saying Kofi hasn't screwed up as UN leader, but I love how you say he is a "corrupt loser", but yet you defend Delay. Delay ISN'T a "corrupt loser" ???? My god, if anyone is, HE is. Last year alone he was censored/admonished by the House Ethics committee (which was controlled by his own party) THREE times! And is also right now being investigated a Senate panel for his connections to Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff in connection with defrauding Indian tribes and getting overseas trips paid for illegally. In short, if you can't see that Delay is corrupt, you are blinder than Stevie Wonder.
And such blindness fit in perfectly with your opionion that Fox News is truly "fair and balanced." They approach nearly EVERY story with an agenda, and are clearly a mouthpiece for the Republican party. Every time one of their anchors makes an opinion piece, it's to slam Dems and support Repubs. John GIbson (or whatever his name is), said that Karl Rove deserves a medal if he did indeed out Valerie Plame as a covert CIA agent, because Joe Wilson deserved his come uppance. Even Bill O'Reilly disagreed with THAT one.

Other criminals continue to run their organization from behind bars. Since the Republican Party is essentially a organized criminal organization, they should just treat Delay like the other mafioso and let him keep running it from behind bars in between visits from his boyfriend.

You are an ass.
Bet he is not convicted. Smaller bet that his part in the conspiracy is tossed out by a judge. Austin is liberal and there is the saying that a prosecutor can get a ham sandwich indicted.
Unlike certain other people, it is not like he is all wet from drowning a hooker.
Another desperate move from a party that cant win at the ballot box.

Bang.....right on cue, an appearance from locknload bring up his favorite bogeyman from the past.
That fact that you tools are defending Delay is ALL anyone needs to know about your absolute one-sidedness. If you can't at least condemn Delay, than you wouldn't condemn any Republican no matter what he did. If O.J. Simpson had been a Republican congressman, and then he went and did what he did, you asses would defending HIM.
If you are going to use the argument that "just because he was indicted doesn't mean he didn't do anything wrong", then allow me to say: even if does not get convicted, it doesn't mean he is innocent.
Of course Delay is corrupt. He is every bit as corrupt as the Bushes, the Clintons, the Kennedys, and any other political figures that have reached positions of high power and influence. Hell, you have to be a corrupt manipulative monied a-hole to reach that circle of influence in American politics. Why do some of you act so surprised? It's a big freaking game to these people on both sides.
My prediction is that the GOP's lawyers will dig up juicy dirt about Nancy Pelosi, Hilary Clinton, and other prominent Dems very soon and this whole so-called "case" will be swept under the rug. Just like the Hutchison case in 1994, Ronnie Earle will refuse to present his case and a judge will be then obligated to dismiss all charges.
Youngsters wake up! This is business as usual inside the Beltway. Whatever you learned in high school civics and college poli-sci is complete and utter crap with no foundations in the real world. You can either engage in a Quixotic, bitter and doomed to fail quest to "change the world" or you can learn to play the system to your advantage. I choose to take care of myself and my loved ones rather than getting my shorts in a bunch fighting for "the little man".
The paranoid and cynical will always survive!
