Wha?
I assumed he would focus on XC. He’s definitely gonna be the favorite, but what does this move say about his chances of winning Nattys Cross? (especially when Conner Mantz and the NAU guys are gonna be fresh)

Why would I be mad? I’m just pretty confused.

You probably shouldn’t.

What makes you think he won't do both?

He will do both. The original purpose of this thread was to discuss whether Kiptoo running the 5k indoors will impact his chances of winning the XC title.
He'll finish first indoors, and third behind Young and Mantz (in that order) in XC.
He will win bth.

Young will be third on his team.
Next year he has to be the favorite though.

Kiptoo is back next year too
Starting to think that Grijalva is injured. He raced 1 out of 3 races and lost to 2 teammates.
Ncaa outdoors used to be a 3 day meet with a 5k prelim 10kfinal and then a 5k final. I remember Guys like Josephat boit and alistar Craigg handling it just fine
He is also listed as ISU's anchor for the DMR
He is going to have some incredible accomplishments over the few days of indoor and XC.
Kiptoo is a 27:3x 10k guy. IMO, him running the 5k lower his chances of winnign cross country from 'Heavily favored' to 'legitimate chance of winning'. He still may win it, but I think now Mantz and Grijalva could be in the mix as well.
Lets be real he's like 25/28 and is significantly better than the rest of the field. He will be fine. It's like when he quadrupled at Juco nats
