I would never say the guy is a good coach. I would, however, question many if not all of these accusations. The race one is perhaps the biggest joke. Just a little hint - Kenya is not a race. And yes, African runners are very much known to fabricate age in competitions. That has nothing to do with their race. It just is what it is. I would likely do the same if it allowed me a college education and potentially a better future.
Yes, I would like to swap out "great coach" for "someone who aspires to be a great coach" which I think is fair. If he made mistakes, he made mistakes. But by and large what is going on represents the most desperate cling on to #meetoo that I have yet to witness in these coach dismissals. The girl at UAB wanted to get him fired, that much is clear. S.M. doesnt know any better and is seeking attention wherever she can get it through her blog. Not far back she was posting naked photos of herself to garner attention.
If those UAB girls left behind were logging 70mpw in the summer I dont think there wouldve been a problem making the conference team. That's just it too. I am thinking these were uncommitted athletes who filled a void while other girls were sidelined. Coach Esche wouldve looked at the course they ran on and compared it to the performances of the "white girl". He would have also considered training in addition to all possible outcomes to assemble the best team for meet day. Color never at all on his agenda, he just isnt like that.
