Yep, and I timed the first lap in the stadium (at the start of the race) at exactly 70 seconds for the big group. Those guys are machines.

That's not fast.

Inoue in forth has run 2:06 before I believe. How many Japanese runners have done that more than once? Just Osako?
Correct - he ran 2:06:54 in Tokyo, 2018. His bests - 13:38.44/27:56.27/1:01:39 for 5/10/half. Best year was 2018 at age 25. Japanese runners seem to be at their Best between the ages of 22 to 25. By the time they are 30 most are burnt out although not all. They do so much mileage mostly on hard surfaces which cannot be good for longevity. Also, before the era of the super shoes, a lot of that mileage was done in minimalist flats.

Completely insane. Loved the video of the last 7k or so.
Otherworldly depth. Suzuki looks so pumped at the end, and rightly so :)

Compared to Van Niekerk, no.
Compared to his average pace to that point being 78 seconds, yes;
especially when second place was 90 seconds behind him.

Interesting to see in 5-10 years if the new shoes extend their careers...or even newer shoes come out that extend the PBs/careers of of next gen runners.

The issue is they need to make similar training shoes to the racing models and shoes for training which are more durable than the racing models because anecdotally one hears that the racing model super shoes only last for a race or two so have a very short shelf life. Also forking out $250-$500 for a pair of shoes is expensive for athletes no matter where they come from.

No, but it shows the pacers dialed in on exactly the pace required (71s 400s) right from the start. Perfect pacing on a mostly flat course with only one u-turn was a big factor. The smaller front group at 2:06 pace, the second larger group at 2:07-8. Also, when the last pacer for the front group dropped at 30 k, Suzuki had pacing from the African until he made his break for the win.
