Australia and New Zealand were often held up as the poster children on how to handle COVID-19, so when I looked at the COVID vaccine global tracker from The New York Times I expected them to be well in there way to vaccinating the majority of their population. However, when I actually looked at the numbers, it appears both Australia and New Zealand have vaccinated a grand total of 0 of its citizens.
How is it possible that countries that have taken COVID so seriously over the past year have so colossally dropped the ball in this major piece of the COVID puzzle? I know the retort will be “well we don’t have COVID here so we don’t need the vaccine” but I would think both Australia and New Zealand would want to rejoin the world at some point.
