Yeah I saw Eddbud's review, couldn't believe he gave the midsole a 1.8/3. Based on what he had been saying about the shoe before he got it, I can't help but think he was a bit prejudiced against it before he even ran in it. But maybe that didn't affect the review, lets give him benefit of the doubt. Maybe it just didn't work for him. Tbh I lose a little bit of faith in reviewers that review that new Ultraboost and say the weight doesn't matter. As if. It's the heaviest running shoe on the market, of course it matters. It might still be a decent shoe, but that can't be ignored. He says the weight doesn't matter on the Ultraboost but talks about the ZoomX Invincible as if it's a slow shoe, that takes more effort to run in than other shoes for the same pace.
I'm sorry, that's just ridiculous. Maybe it's true for him... but it's not true for the majority of other reviewers I've seen, and it's not true for me. And it's not true based on the physical properties of ZoomX.
I used mine for the first time on Sunday for a 10 miler. It was lovely. I did the first 5 miles at ~8:30/mi with my girlfriend. We had done 7 miles the day before and she was finding it tough. She said I seemed to be finding it more effortless than usual. Then I did 5 more miles alone at around HM pace and it was cushy and fast. Not as fast as a vaporfly but definitely felt faster than an average daily trainer to me, perhaps because my legs at this point were feeling much fresher than normal, like what you get with the vaporfly or alphafly. My legs continued to feel fresh after the run.
I did have a little pain in one of my knees for the first couple miles, but it completely went away. Perhaps it was because it's a soft shoe, but I didn't really feel unstable at any point, especially as the grip is really good.
I've only done one run in them, and obviously that's not enough to make a full opinion on them, but to be honest I struggle to see myself ever wanting to use any other shoe for longer runs now.
