I just watched his hot take on the capitol being stormed.
In addition to being smarmy, arrogant and spiteful towards “the other” (ie middle America), his monologue was painfully unfunny and hackneyed. Reddit-tier humor.
It’s clear he sees himself as some sort of modern-day Thomas Paine. He’s really just unfunny. And I used to like him. Sad!
It was not meant to be funny. It was meant to be outraged and scathing at Trump and all who enabled him.
Just try this thought game. What if Trump had won and Biden claimed the election was rigged and stolen, and he keep repeating time and time again, with most every democratic congress member repeating it, or talking about "irregularities".
Still the election was certified and heading to congress.
Now imagine that is was Biden got up near the Capital building and gave the same speech that Trump did. That a hoard of BLM, woken dems, and outraged never-trumpers stormed the Capital building, pushed past barricades, fought with police (killing one), and ravaged the building. What would you think? Should Biden be charged with inciting an insurrection? Should he be labeled a traitor? Should he ever be allowed to run for office again? Should the congress members be called out for their behavior.
If there were such a thing as a conservative late night show, would you expect it's host to be outraged? Should he be funny that night? Heck, would you expect the regular late night shows to be outraged?
No mainstream democrat would do this. Even the Republican Trump supporters in congress who parroted his crazy conspiracies would not have done it. Only Trump would and did.
He deserves to be removed from office. He deserves to live a shamed existence for the rest of his days.
One day, you will likely be ashamed of your support for Trump. You will hide your support of him from your children and grandchildren. You'll retell your story until it's a forgotten moment of your past.
I'm proud that as a (now former) Republican I never supported Trump. I've called his BS from day 1, and will continue to call it until I die. He was, is, and will ever be a national embarrassment.
