I am in the 1080 v10 right now after 3 successful pairs of ghosts in a row. I only have about 30 miles on them so far. they feel ... okay (?). . . something about the lacing on the 1080 ... i just don't like it - no matter if I lace it tight or loosen it up, there always seems to be a place along the laces that's tighter than the rest of the shoe, causing a bit of top-of-the-foot pain only in that area.
You’re right about the lacing on the 1080... for me there was a razor-thin margin between too tight and too loose. Medium-thickness socks helped a bit out by at least making the heel more comfortable.
I tried on the 1080v10 literally today and loved the midsole bounce but thought the lacing was slightly uncomfortable. I'm happy you shared this because the lacing was the reason I didn't buy them on the spot.
I love the New Balance Beacons and want to continue using it for my faster road training, but I want something with a little more cushion for easy miles on roads. I think I'm going to keep looking.
