I'm not against running during a pandemic.
Safely. Distanced. Smart. Exercise is encouraged.
I'm against racing during a pandemic.
Different idea.

Ok stopit dude, sure runners can have coronavirus and infect others.
In other states, where racing is occuring, they're having runners submit a negative test before the race.
Elsewhere, they are social distancing at the start area, no race day parties, and staggered starts.
You'd probably be a good race director because you'd still feel terrified of people getting sick at your event with these options.
RACE AT THE FRENCH LAUNDRY. VERY SAFE!!!
Actually, in Tennessee, most of the races are preserved by being virtual.
No you aren't running with other runners but you can run by yourself on a track or trail by yourself at the distance prescribed, upload that result and submit it to make the "race."
Many states and cities are drifting to virtual races in a pandemic...unless you're in a school, college or national/international competition.

California- the best of America as I always say.
You should know better than to form impressions of a state or country based on having visited only the nicer areas of it and very briefly.
For what it's worth, I usually disagree with Stoppit Smith's views on other topics, but I think he's got the right train of thought going on with respect to COVID-19.
Thank you. I appreciate that...a lot.

What makes you think I only visited briefly? Or only saw the nicer areas?
Nothing is making you stay in CA. Only you can decide to stop being a victim of Gavin Newsom. Make like everyone else who is “woke” in your state and move to TX. We had an in person half marathon today actually, about 15 minutes drive from where I live. You’ll also pay no state income tax and be able to buy a mansion for 500k. Everyone is doing it. Rumor has it Elon Musk is next. Move quickly—property values are rising fast here.

Texas is awful, ugliest place I’ve ever lived.
Lol. I don't know who you are but I agree.
I had to drive a 26 foot truck ( not expected) from CA to TN.
I passed through El Paso, Abilene, Big Spring, Ft. Worth, Dallas, etc.
What I thought I would see is cowboys, the Lone Star every place and Texans .
I ate at Taco Casa in Santo. It was Taco Bell in Texas
Booooo....ring.
Nothing to Texas lol
Yeehaw.
Unfortunately, people are leaving this state by the dozens. On a bright side, hopefully the ridiculous cost of housing will eventually go down.

Where are they leaving? San Fran? Here housing prices are still going up. The attitude is the pandemic will be over when a vaccine is available in a year or two. Unfortunately there might not be much of an arts or events industry left by then.

One can be a true runner and care about safety.
Nobody is heroic for risking others ' lives during a pandemic for their time goals.
Nobody is less of a runner for taking a pandemic seriously.
1.) True runners arent afraid of a flu like virus.
2.) False. Kiplimo is awesome. He risked other peoples lives by running a race in valencia less than 6 feet away from ppl at the start line, and he broke 58 min.
3.) If a runner trains less during the pandemic, their results will prove otherwise
Stop it, Smith.
What is your glitch?
A slower time does not make one less of a runner because they trained less. It just means they did not run as long.
Even you know this.

True. They can still call themselves "runners" if they choose to identify that way.
Also, "what is your glitch?" is awkward phrasing.
Even you can do better.
I can do better.
But you don't deserve better.
Prove it. What makes you think you actually can do better?
Oh wait, you probably have some safety training course to go to.
Cause youre all about safety, right?

Then you obviously haven’t lived in the Midwest. Especially during the months December-March.
