Would you ever take running advice from a non-runner or hobby jogger?

sounds like you are a hobby jogger to me. how about you go for your daily 5 min jog and brag about it on facebook

Pretty dumb question. Some of the greatest coaches of all time were either mediocre or non runners. You don't have to be a great athlete to be a great coach. In fact it's likely more common for a great athlete to be a sub par coach. Now would I take advice from someone that doesn't know much about running? Of course not.

Aaron, you have gone out of control. Just because you have a segment course record on strava doesn't mean you are fast. I am sure you and your mother are the only ones that do that segment (which probably is from your bedroom to the fridge).

Exactly what I mean here. Lydiard was a hobby jogger. Renato Canova was a hobby jogger. Colm O'Connell was never an endurance athlete and neither was Joe Vigil when he started. Lydiard recognized that he was never going to be anything in running with his own two feet so he focused his efforts in learning how to coach world class athletes.

Yes, from an ex-girlfriend. She did not like long body hair and convinced me to trim legs, arms and torso hair short. Not shaved because that she did not like that look, and I wasn't going to go that far. Well, in terms of running what happened is that my sweat evaporated much faster than before.

The girlfriend is long gone, but I have been doing the same body hair short trim for over 25 years. My wife likes the result, but she does not know why I ever did it in the first place. She only knows that it helps with body sweat control.
