The legendary Bill McChesney has held that record for a long time, withheld Rupp and Ches and many other good runners, will Teare be the guy to take it down this weekend?

I think he gets it, then we’ll see him at the trials too
Tough call, things are quite different now.
McChesney was an outstanding HS runner that put up big times prior to any post-season meets, and there weren't many post-season meets back then. I view Teare as not quite the same as McChesney while in HS.
I didn't get to race against McChesney, there wasn't much like NB Nationals with lots of relays. Also, we didn't have sports that year, but if so, we were expected to break the 2-mile relay, distance medley and 4 x 1-mile relay. I saw Dirk Lakeman years later at USA CC Championships (won by Pat Porter), and his comment about setting the 4 x 1 mile without us having a season was "I wish we could have raced you."
Note: We did run a distance medley indoors in early January that year, without CC , and it was not metric (3:15, 51, 2:02, 4:18). We trained the Oregon system, so in January we were in a build phase of training, and we didn't have an indoor track, so did our workouts in the snow, dirt (when available) or on the roads. The guy who ran 3:15 had run 1:55 the previous track season and would have run 3:08 or faster, the 51 guy ran 48.2 the previous track season, the 2:02 guy ran 1:55 a few months later in an open meet, and the anchor was expected to run 4:04 or faster with a season, and did run around 4:10.
That's a pretty incredible story, I always love your advice and stories from the past they're a well-needed addition to the board especially since everything slowed down recently.
Took a few more months, but not a better meet and stadium to do it
Congrats Teare
Wow
