I'm assuming the position being advertised for Ohio State today is the position recently held by Ashley Kovacs?

Diversity inclusion equity hire.
The man literally did nothing at his previous school, this is what is wrong with our sport! Questionable comfort hires! Get off your ass and do some digging for real coaches!!
Nothing of what you said is true. The want to hire a diverse candidate is not illegal because it is a matter of choice. No different than a coach hiring a former athlete in order to get them in the game, and aid them in the start of their career. Your personal feelings do not make facts.
You asked the funniest question ever, "this clear and obvious discrimination"? History speaks for itself, but that is not my focus here. Your assumption is that discrimination is not inherent to ALL hires. When one chooses to hire it is based on a clear criteria, written and unwritten. As a reaction/correction to blatant and overt past discrimination there has been a concerted effort to ensure equal opportunity for those once discriminated against. Your entire premise assumes that there is some clear and obvious difference in qualified candidates. This is the great lie. Which brings us to your last flawed assertion, the garbage experiences of student athletes due to unqualified diverse hires. The lie here is humorous. Bad coaching knows no race or gender, and if we were to quantify your assertion, you would find that these so called experiences would favor hiring MORE diverse candidates.
UTRGV obviously won big in this one. Embry has a resume that could be hired at a power five school and he is one heck of a recruiter. The other guy coached high school athletes, sounds like he never coached his event area, and never been on the D1 level. Bad hire for Coastal.

Hiring on the basis of skin color or gender is ILLEGAL. PERIOD. You are literally arguing AGAINST what the civil rights leaders fought for.

Yeah dude we get it. You're saying the same thing everyone else says on every page of this thread. We all know its illegal, but for the love of god can you guys start a separate thread and keeps this one about jobs?

Reported along with others, there's hundreds of posts at this point about this topic here so just please refer to those or start a new thread. I'm vowing not to get caught up in this anymore. This thread just needs to be about jobs and rumors surrounding jobs - not a race war.

what would happen if the post said White or male candidate preferred like on Black hills state posting.
I believe this position is funded by a minority grant, which requires it to be filled by a minority or female. Nothing illegal or to be questioned here. Move along.

Nope.
I'm a HS coach on the 6A level. Most HS coaches on here would know who I am. Ray's hire was known for a couple weeks but couldn't be made public for what should be really obvious reasons.
“RUN for the hills. I wouldn't take a step near this dumpster fire”
What makes you say that? Charles Ryan seems like a great hire. Great location. What’s not to like about it?

Please stop trying to toot your own horn Mike. Coastal has their guy, while you landed another job. Do better

Charles Ryan is the new Director of the whole shooting match at SJSU. He's the kind of guy that would drink a gallon of gasoline so he could piss in your campfire! You could drop this guy off at the Arctic Circle wearing a pair of bikini underwear, without his toothbrush, and tomorrow afternoon he's going to show up at your pool side with a million dollar smile and fist full of pesos. He will find a way to get it done. He built a multiple time national championship team at AofA with little to no facilities. You wouldn’t do it, but that’s because you’re not cut from the same cloth. He doesn’t need it to be easy or he would have stayed @ Cal.
