Did Christian Simone transfer there from great oak or did he just compete with them?

He was a transfer from Great Oak. I saw somewhere that he was kicked off Great Oak's team, then transferred.
From previous threads about Newbury, I think the Sahlman brothers and Young family all transferred to Newbury Park from another community as well. I guess that's the way the top teams in the country are built since the advent of NXN.

That was one of the greatest HS women's XC performances ever. I can't wait to see the speed rating for this one.
I am guessing 169-173 range. With that great live video coverage too bad Jenna Hutchins and Brynn Brown weren't there. They would have run with her for most of the race if not all of it.

Oh yeah, that would have been lovely to see all of them race together. I think on December 5th Thorvaldson might be racing with Brynn Brown and Abby Vanderkooi (maybe Jenna Hutchins too?) at a meet in Texas (Lubbock Christian University). So we might get to see a match up like that!
Also, some people are saying the 5k course today was actually a bit longer in distance. If that's the case that makes the run even more so impressive.
Some people were incorrect. GPS is not as accurate as the wheel.

I think it will be at the upper end of this range, possibly up to 175. She beat a bunch of girls who have gotten 150+ SRs by a minute or more. A very impressive run by her. And, don't lose the performance by Riley Stewert - she seemed to get to a new level today.

Sydney Thorvaldson wins easily. She is the best Distance runner in the country, and I wish Brown and Hutchins were there so she could prove it!
As predicted!!!!!! Hopefully now she gets the respect she deserves!!!! I’m so tired of all the media hype Brown and Hutchins gets running these times. Thorvaldson did this on a legit CC course, not the flat tracks and short courses Brown runs or flat courses Hutchins runs. Don’t get me wrong they are great athletes, I’m really trying to emphasize how great Thorvaldson is.......she is so much stronger than the other two. She runs on tough courses in altitude and I’m not surprised at all about this awesome performance!
It’s a shame that Starliper and her never got to run that 2mile at NBN indoor in March due to COVID. They both would have broke Tuohy’s Armory record and gone under 9:50 as a as Starliper’s goal and why she was skipping the mile. I believe these two will face off in NCAA many years to come. They will be the two with the best college careers when it is all said and done with all these elite girls over the past couple of years. You heard it here first. Great race Sydney, your the queen of this year’s class and you do it with such grace and humility.... never lose that!!!!!!!?

Well, I stand corrected. 168 is the result.

Welp. I was a little high. She got a 168.
The 150 girls apparently under performed their best as well as the top boys.
Hobbs Kessler who finished a close second was two points below his previous high.
Judson Greer got a 194.
Based the SRs Newbury Park would have had 3 in the top 5 team scorers of NXN last year - and that includes Nico Young and Jake Aschebrenner of last year's team. They dominated today, and it sure looks like they would have dominated a NXN this year. Also, Colin Sahlman seemed to have an off day today and still this result.

how do you transfer to a public school? If they don't live in the school district than they would probably have to move.

I am not saying the course is long, but I did wheel the course a few years back at nxr mw. I got 5020m. The course is a legit 5000m course unlike most hs courses. It is not the hardest course around but it is not a flat race track either. The wind was howling out there today also. You could hear it very clearly on the web cast. That was one of the most impressive runs I have seen by a high schooler.

And... their top 5 guys with a speed rating over 180

Unless you have the perfect starting box and run a straight line from the start and hit all the tangents and hug the inside line, you will always run long on a well measured XC course.
I did the 8k on Saturday. My watch said I ran 5.09 miles and my mile pace was 7 seconds (!) slower than my mile pace in the results. The data overlayed on the satellite photo looked pretty accurate, so who knows. The course handles distances from 3k to 10k, so one or two of those distances may not be pinpoint accurate. When you're using the same start/finish line and same loops for all those different distances, chances are that one of the race distances might be off. Actually if you look at the course maps, the 7k and 9k markers are in a slightly different location. But that could be just a mistake on the maps.
The 3k uses a different start line. Every 1k or 2k portion is precisely measured. They are not random.
Interestingly, today's SR results seem right in line with the results from the NXR for 2014-2019, which suggests that the windy conditions did not impact the times of the runners much today - at least relative to whatever the course conditions were in those other years.
It is a shame Hutchins, Brown and Thorvaldson don't get a chance to run against each other at FL Nationals - the Balboa Park course record might be in jeopody.

Hutchins still got one more year after this, so she will be able to run at Footlocker in 2021 if it comes back. Vanderkooi got one more year too. She was the top nonsenior finisher there last year so she’ll give Hutchins a run.

Windy conditions is normal for Terre Haute.
Terre Haute is as accurate as it gets. The issue from extra distance comes near the end when there’s so many turns. In a competitive race where people are bunched up you end up swinging wide a lot. Add to that the mud that accumulates on the curves and it just extrapolates that factor.
Not necessarily true in California. However, the two school s are 136 miles apart with Newbury Park being north of Los Angeles and Great Oak south. e
