Thanks to those who understand that doing the nationals rankings isn't easy. I can't please everyone. I believe that I said earlier that if Chico ran awesome at nationals that they'd have a chance to win and I got slammed. I still think they can win.
Abilene did run pretty well at Chile Pepper without their usual #4...
Naimadu 28:31
Birgen 29:55
Gasore 30:41
Nkurunziza 31:44
Okello 32:13
I didn't see Lucke Hadabe in the results (who was right up there near Gasore at the OSU meet). If you throw him in there at say 31:00, they are tough.
That said, I probably do agree with you that Chico should be ahead of Abilene. I didn't realize that both teams had raced a common opponent (in Cal). I just looked at the Abilene results and figured that with Hadabe running, they didn't deserve to fall. That Chile Pepper course is smoking fast, and I should have taken that into account. There is no doubt in my mind that Chico will run well when it counts.
Anyways, until we get teams from across the country racing each other on a consistent basis (wouldn't it be great to see an early October Chico vs. Adams vs. Abilene vs. Grand Valley vs. Lock Haven, etc showdown???), it will be tough to compare each of the regions. Hopefully I don't make anyone TOO mad with the rankings each week. If you team isn't up where you want it to be, prove me wrong. Two years ago, that's what I had to do. It if fun, and makes for a good story. Good luck to everyone with your upcoming conference, regional, and hopefully national meets.
