I'm the healthiest I've been in years.
For almost a little over two months I've worn nothing but a pair of completely shot 2014 Adios Boost with 700+ miles. Over this time I've done a lot of miles on road/ concrete, and have run everywhere from 8:00 pace down to 5:00 pace and its felt great.
For context, I've been in a nasty injury cycle for about a year and a half. I feel like I've had nearly every nagging injury over this span: periformis syndrome, shin splints, PF, hamstring strain, ITBS, etc. At times these injuries have caused me to take time off (longest missed stretch was 6 weeks, but I'd say I've been injured or coming back more often than really training over the last 18 months.)
Most recently, I was dealing with some unidentifiable knee pain and plantar fasciitis, and had just come back from 4 weeks off. I ran for a week, and it seemed like every day I ran the pain was getting worse. As I felt the pain creeping its way back, my frusteration rose to a point that I basically said F*** it, I'm gunna run hard in the lightest shoes I can find, and if I break I break.
After the run I felt great, and have basically been running in just these every day. The knee pain and PF have both completely cleared up, my legs rarely feel fatigued, and my stride feels fluid, fresh, and bouncy every day.
Anyone else with a similar expereince?
P.S. majority of the shoes I had worn over the previous couple of years had been high cushion (Brooks Glycerin-->Hoka Bondi), thinking that more cushion was what I needed to fight the injuries.
