good call on the non sub 3:30s. Tim slowed up the third it seems, played a tactical game with Jakob. Very mad about NBC Sports Gold rn

Kinda underwhelming tbh
Seriously though what a way to promote the sport - Broken official live stream, NBC has a paywall for one of the least popular sports in a 'Merica and the service doesn't even work, does Seb Coe want athletics to fail. Or would he rather just promote it in Africa and the middle east and get that sweet Chinese money. 操他妈的
Another loss by Jakob due to his limited sprint speed. Remember when everyone, including his coach, said after his 1:46.44 800m earlier this summer that this is proof he got all the speed he needs to win championship races? It does not look like it at all, and seems to be exactly the thing holding him back now.

11/11 - Tim is his DADDY.
And sons always supersede their dads. Poor Tim, the biggest loser of Tokyo being postponed. Not a chance Jakob wontbbe ahead of him in 2021.
yeah, I wake early just for this bs to happen. Just a waste of money sometimes with these track paywalls

At 38 Tim is certainly old enough to be his dad.
Also, anyone that thinks Tim is beating Jakob by more than .5 seconds is nutz.
It is clearly rather windy; Muir is in sub-3:55 shape, Reekie 1:57 at least.
So when is Warholm going to get that WR everyone keeps talking about?

No, he lost because Tim is still 1/4 second faster than him. Tim didn't outsprint him here or in Monaco- he held him off. Jakob should be at least a second faster next year. Will Tim be?

I was told that 2020 was supposed to be THAT year by a certain annoying european poster.
Interesting race. Decent through 800 and then really slowed up. Jakob seemed content to sit right on TC thinking that he could turn on the jets in the final 100 (which he did, Jakob actually had pretty good acceleration in the final straight). Only problem was that Tim was also running comfortable with an extra gear. They probably closed the last 100 similarly but Tim was in position and it would have taken a real significant last 100 for Jakob to get by him.
3:30.X with that kind of race shows that both probably could have broken 3:30 again today. McSweyn looked a little more all out.
wow NBC sucks

tim is more than .25s better than Jakob

A 3:30 is hardly a tactical race. Timothy is a better runner over 1500m. That is why he won.

Well, if it were a tactical race, I am sure Tim could put sprint him. Everyone forgets Tim ran 1:43 last year in Nairobi.
ehh, i think for these guys 3:30 is semi Tactical. both are fast enough to drop everyone by 800, think for a second on the third lap, then go. Likely, Tim saw the wind and said f- it, I'll run a Monaco 2019 style race and yo-yo it. Jakob was content to test his ability, tho next time Tim tries this, I'd watch for Jakob to fly by and try something new with 650-700 to go.

Lol no chance. When has Jacob won a race that matters?
In fast races it's clear that Tim is best and Jakob 2nd in the world at the moment. I'd love to see a slow paced, tactical 1500m between Tim and Jakob, to see if Jakob has improved his kick.
His best kick to date is his 53.xx last lap against Gebrhiweth London 5000 last year.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
