What a joke thread this is. It’s Farah’s fault no one ran fast? Get over yourself. Why would Farah run fast when he can win running slower? Clearly you’ve never raced at a high level. All this Farah hate here because he didn’t chase fast times is ridiculous. Who cares? He’s a winner.
That's not what the thread is about at all. It's about why Farah never set or attempted to set any WR. One arguement is that he wasn't able ...ability wise. He was limited by his running style, tactics etc. Others think he didn't think it was not important, which I personally disagree with. Athletes are competitive by nature. After championship and olympic golds, the only thing standing btn him and Geb, Bekele was the WRs, and faster personal bests. No athlete can turn down a chance to break a WR if they think they can do it. You can't argue British and European records are worth his attention but WR are not. Same reason he went to the roads, and why he is abandoning them after a few seasons. He wanted to hv a dominant road racing career. He now assesses that he cant. The top guys are particularly hard to dislodge there, the WR even more so. But he got a British Half Marathon/ Marathon records, and European ones (has since lost the European Marathon Record). But that wasn't someone trying not to run to the best of his abilities in the marathon and the half.
I am very doubtful that someone driven enough to train for championship and olympic golds and national and continental records wd somehow turn down the chance to break world records. Not only wd it be out of character, it wd be downright disrespectful to himself, his talent, his rivals and to the sport.
