The problem is do you know if he was being tongue in cheek? This tongue in cheek stuff can get old.

She's doing a great job as long as she doesn't violate her own social distancing mandates. ?

She is harmful to the City of Chicago. She should be arrested.
Navel-gazing meditations on a “cop-free world” cooked up in newsrooms dominated by overeducated 20-somethings are a luxury afforded a relatively placid society. Social workers and mental-health professionals aren’t going to break up a riot.
Desegregate the public housing in Chicago, Appleswan and my sister in law want to move in first.
Seriously though, How can city block after city block of people living like refugees have seemed like a good idea? Who built this?

People aren't going to riot if there are no cops killing them.
You need to read between the lines. Tearing statues is symbolic but highlighting who these people are is important. Explaining not every statue you see in your local park is a hero.
Defunding the police means exactly that. Sure, there are violet members of society, but should a society need a heavy police presence? Shouldn't we have come up with solutions to peace in the community by now? We've done nothing to address gangs, rough neighborhoods or drugs other than policing, criminalization and jail. So yes, I do think change is necessary. Start with decriminization of drugs and sex work and provide healthcare for drug addicts and encourage unionization of sex workers. Allow local govt to sell leases for property to residents on favourable terms for homeless or struggling citizens.
I don't see BLM campaigning for more welfare cash payments. I see them talking about more transformational change. Surely this is why people have strong opinions about them. If BLM were about a few extra welfare payments you wouldn't be so upset with them.
Most mayors in major urban centers have done a disservice to the people they were entrusted to protect by ignoring lawlessness. But more importantly, I'm really offended by that haircut. I mean couldn't she have done THAT by herself?
I really fear for the future of our urban centers if things don't change. Cuomo is begging for the rich people to come back so they can fund all of the excesses of NYC. I think the Covid lock-down has changed the paradigm and companies and employees realize they can do many urban jobs remotely. Why commute to Manhattan every day when you can live in much less expensive outlying areas, work from a home office and get together for a couple of in-person meetings a month?
This is now being accentuated by the lawlessness and destruction in even affluent urban areas.
Many of the manufacturing centers are no longer in the urban centers. If bankers, insurance brokers, stock brokers, company headquarters have no need to remain in urban centers for efficiency, for safety, for tax reasons, for cost of housing reasons, why would they stay.
Perhaps the death of the urban centers by negligence of those in charge?
This kid gets it. Well said.

Well, you can't make change until you are willing to identify the real problem.
Which is? Hearing a lot about "the real problem" but nobody says openly what it is
And until regular people stand up and hold these elected idiots accountable, vote them out etc... I say let it burn. Too many bystanders just watching in fear and hoping someone will save them. Not going to happen. We are going to see a lot more violent crime until people start defending themselves and their rights, violently. Mark my word, USA will look more like Beruit, Sarajevo, etc... Until The People start forcing the government to go their job that they were elected to do. They are bought every day by the enemy within. It's time to rat them out of their holes and burn them at the stake in public before they destroy the whole country. BLM, Antifa, the crazy racist far right hate organizations, etc...all of them must go! But the regular American people won't do for themselves. The ones who have already started standing armed on their property are condemned by the media but it's going to get a lot messier. Watch the violent crime rates skyrocket more than they already have in Seattle and Portland as they line up to eliminate police officers. If you can't protect yourself today if you had to, you should think hard about how you are going to or prepare for dealing with crisis moments in your family lives. There's no guarantees but if you have the right to protect yourselves, you should put yourself in the position to do so if need be rather than just be a victim.
I'm not putting you down, but I hope things don't come down to vigilante action. However, this is the result of the far left radicals and anarchists creating fear that the basic safety of an average rational person in this country is not secure because there is no guarantee that mayors or even governors will do anything to protect you, your family, your business or your home if the anarchists attack.
it all started with Marshall Fields wrote:
Ever since Marshall Fields left, the great city of Chicago has been in decline. Businesses and residents have been leaving steadily in the past decade. Beautiful city but horrible taxes and leadership, ever-growing crime.
Lived there for 15 years and moved to Dallas this summer. There is a reason *everyone* is moving to Dallas from CA and NY and Chicago. People are sick of being taxed up the wazoo to live somewhere full of homeless people, crime, and vandalism
I moved out of IL 8 years ago. Without any change in income and buying a house of almost identical value in my new state, I suddenly had nearly $900 per month back in my budget in tax and fee savings. $900 per month is a lot to me.
I get tired of far lefties saying it's "just a little extra in taxes". The taxes in IL were so outrageous that we had to leave for our finances. It has only gotten worse since we left. Why would anyone suggest that we take this style of government nation-wide?
Yes Appleswan, we have failed them and that WE is the Democratic Party. Take a long look in the mirror. Maybe you 'meant ' well. Maybe some of you really cared. That doesn't cut, because your Party has failed the Black people. Time for change.
Unfortunately true.
+1
Agreed 100%. Well said.
The Democratic party now uses black people as puppets. Black people cannot have an independent voice. If you don't vote for Biden you ain't black, come on man.

Wrong. BLM are an anti-racist movement calling for inequalities to be addressed. If black lives are being lost because blacks are in gangs or rough housing or bad schools then that too is a something addressing the legacy of racism will solve.
That’s adorable.
What is Biden's plan to solve racism? I know his plan to solve crime was:

I'm not sure you believe your own rhetoric. Taking to the streets and demanding change IS what these protesters have been doing. You think they'd do this if they were interested in electoral politics?
