I thought he was in his early 40s,
Even someone that old running just under 12mins for two miles is pretty sad.

In his prime he could run ~8:30-8:40. That guy ran a 3:56 mile and 3:34 1500m in his career without even focusing on these events. His endurance was fantastic for a 800m guy.
Now barely breaking 12 is not a "great result". He is 36, look at what Geb, Lagat, etc. have done when they were that old. Willis is older and even competing still, and I'm sure he wouldn't consider a 12 min 2-mile a great result for him.
Have to agree.
I was a 1:56 half miler and 4:20 miler. Quit running after college. Began doing about 35 mpw on the roads at age 35 and could hold a 6:00 per mile pace for 10k.
Nick is not in any kind of running shape.
Maybe there are things more important in life. Maybe he is more focused on other things right now. Maybe one's passion for running ebbs and flows. Maybe he could still kick all of our aces if he tried.
Could it be (wait for it....) that Nick doesn't really train hard these days nor does he really care how fast he can go and is more interested in putting out interesting YouTube content to build his channel? No, that couldn't be it, he just sucks are running, yeah that's it!!
Can we get Nick to race LRP?
It's all about enjoying life, gaining subscribers and selling run gum for him now. Not sure how much running he does anymore, probably a few miles here and there and what ever he does in his videos. It is surprising how fast you lose it, even if you stay active but not dedicating every second to running fast.
I belive he ran a 4:39 mile before lockdown this year and his sub 4 down a mountain with vaporflys then a 54 400 in Crocs then a 52 in spikes.
Then in his summer meets he hosted, I think he was right around 5 in the mile then 17:53 in the 5k.
The 11:54 didn't look all out. Probably had 30-60 seconds faster in him but still not very impressive, although I'm sure he doesn't care what people on letsrun think.
He ran an 8:20 3k as his career was winding down, so probably could have gone about 8 flat in his prime or about 8:40 for 2miles.
Running fitness is cumulative for most.
If you spend a few years just bumming around you're gonna lose a lot
You are incredibly annoying LRP.

Ok boomer
I'm a no-talent hobby jogger dad who does most of my runs pushing a stroller, and I can easily break 12 for 2m.
It’s odd, I remember he ran the mile in 4:40 or something like that just a few months ago? It seems strange that he could only manage a 12 minute 2 mile. Maybe he wasn’t trying his absolute best, but was just trying to max out that portion of the test.
What a crappy post, Phil.
He's heavy, that's his main problem.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother...

yikes.
so did nick just go run sub-12 to get the max score for some fitness challenge (no need to go any faster) and now everybody is saying hes in 11:54 shape?
somebody else said he ran 9:22 recently?
which is it?
This is pathetic. Nick has accomplished more than all of the poster in this thread COMBINED in the sport of running. He is still relatively fit, has decided to focus more on running a startup business, and has decided to also enjoy other fitness type activities (crossfit, hiking, mountaineering, yoga etc), in addition to still running here and there. He is not fat, and looks to be in fantastic shape for a 36 year old.
More importantly, he also LOVES to get out there with the youth in the running community and run events with them for FUN on his youtube channel. Who cares about the times. He is a GREAT ambassador for the sport and role model to the young running community.
Nick just loves running period. He had a video where he ran an all out 400 in like 52 seconds (which is horribly slow compared to his PRs), and he was SUPER excited and pumped about it, and basically said "It's just so much fun to get here and run a 400m like that!". Also love his video where he tries to break a 18m 5K and can barely do it - he is having SO much fun running with the youth like that.
That takes a lot of inner self confidence and contentment with ones life and successes to have that type of attitude. This is a man that has NOTHING to prove to anyone.
Why don't you go to the local track and run an all out effort in an event you haven't really trained for. Zero percent chance you have as much fun as Nick because you clearly are not satisfied with your life like him and feel compelled only to criticize others only. Maybe some day you can have as much fun as Nick does running.
alright so I caved and watched part of the video. He only needed to run like 13:20 for 2mi to get the max score. cut him some slack, he's just trying to get youtube views.
Nick’s 3000m PR is 8:20, and he ran that indoors and a couple years after his prime years (2012-2013). I know that doesn’t convert to 8:40 for 2 miles but he probably could have thrown an 8:40 down when pretty fit in his prime.
david45 mile. lmaooooo
