I meant regular season but I did not say that so I stand corrected! I guess I missed the Wyoming Georgia State thriller. Instead I was cleaning out the garage. The ticket scalping must've been insane!
Again, just an assumption, but what was the attendance & how much were they paid to attend? Mid-majors have to buy 40+% of the tickets which do not get used. Some of those games get 5000 attendance. The schools have to keep the players on campus another month when others have gone home on break. Most house them in a hotel during that time either due to the dorms being closed or as a reward. The schools then take every administrator & booster they can drum up to the game for a week on the university's dime. That is in addition to the umteen number of players, most of which do not see the field of play. The teams are usually on-site more than a week, again at hotels and per diem daily as well as the multiple tourist side trips they take.
Wyoming may not be in this boat but I have no reason to believe otherwise. The Mid American Conference football teams lose between $750K and $1.5 million every season UNLESS they make a bowl. If they go to a bowl, their deficit usually doubles.
