While I was reading this, an ad for black rifle coffee appeared. Their coffee is awesome. If you are going to indulge a bad habit, do it right. I like their Silencer Smooth blend.

I've never been a coffee drinker but drank a lot of diet soda with caffeine. Quit multiple times, then went back.
I think what got me to quit for good (with rare exceptions) was seeing the research that showed caffeine can improve endurance--but not if you drink it every day and your body gets used to it.
Yeah, a lot of people get a caffeine-withdrawal headache for a day or two. So did I but it wasn't that bad and was well worth it. Now I only have caffeine before races and when I'm driving my team somewhere--want to be wide awake for that. With the season being shut down I haven't had any since March.
Measure how much you drink in a day in oz. then drink one less oz per day and this should minimize the painful headaches.
Everyone is talking about caffeine alternatives. You said you were drinking coffee just to get a buzz. Are you bored?
Why not channel the energy into a second hobby? Take up real estate investing or start a small business.
OP probably doesn't have the capital to do either. And in this economy, good luck starting a small business in the service industries.

A business could be coaching running. It could be a garage-based e-commerce operation. Real estate doesn’t need your own capital.
If he’s so bored that he’s essentially getting drunk on coffee, he has time to figure out something productive and improve his future.

The world doesn't need more running coaches.
If cutting down, best to do it gradually over a couple of weeks. Avoids headaches. Or try yerba mate. Also good stuff like coffee, but smoother ride.

Will do. Just ordered some steep bags since my grocery store stopped carrying them.
You need to taper your caffeine. Maybe start with 80/20 (regular coffee to decaf coffee) and gradually boost the decaf percentage.
This, above. Decaf blend taper. Keeps your habit of hot drink, and the antioxidants.
Move to Provo, Utah. There are not a lot of coffee drinkers there. Then you won't be tempted as there are a lot less coffee stands around.

I guess all those Kenyans eating Ugali are doing it wrong then? LOL

That's for the market to decide. There are a lot of people on Planet Earth...

Kenyan life expectancy: 65 years. I would have one year left lol.
Actually I tried eating just like a Kenyan runner (yes, tons of ugali and sugary tea) all through my 20s and was in and out of the hospital by the end of that tragic decade. No way I would have made to today, much less in the best health and overall fitness of my life as I currently am.
Why would you want to stop a healthy habit??
Coffee consumption is associated with substantially reduced all-cause mortality. Several studies have linked increasing coffee consumption to lower risk of cancers, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic liver disease and respiratory diseases...

Drink more coffee to stay healthy and live longer!
Have 1 mug in morning then avoid it when you ARE tired. Soon you will get enough sleep so you won’t crave it anymore
There’s nothing wrong with coffee at all unless you drink way too much or you load it up with sugar and cream. If you drink too much volume, mix in some decaf and slowly shift the ratio using more decaf each time. If you’re putting too much sugar in there, grow up and drink it black.

Throw out all your coffee and your coffee maker and you're off to the races.
I tried to give up coffee just for the hell of it one time, and it soon felt like someone was squeezing my head in a vice. Taper!
Coffee is poison for five reasons:
1) It has zero nutritional value
2) It stains your teeth
3) It causes stomach ulcers
4) It has addictive properties because of the caffeine
5) It tastes like warm liquid mud
