in 10 months, i went from 17:07 to 15:35. not too shabby. hoping to go under 15:20 by the end of february, which will be almost a 2 min improvement in a year.
I'm not exactly sure why everyone keeps posting under my name. I am the I-33 Callmaster that said I lost motivation and started focusing on overall health, including lifting more. I'm also the one that can tell you each run, each day for the 15 weeks that I did train well.
I'm not sure why I bother as someone will just use my name and say something else and drag this thread on. The funny thing is I'm not good. My time, for a runner is very mediocre. My 18:20 was the last 5k race I ran and I felt in pretty decent shape at that time. I was running like 50-60 mile weeks and running 18:20. I'm sorry but I'm engaged and will be married soon, that effort is not worth the reward.
Anyway, thanks for those that gave input (see original post). Thanks to those that followed, sorry I disappointed.
I admit that I lost the desire this winter after getting down a great base. I have now regained my desire and passion for running. I have decided to go for the marathon. I'm going to run a fall marathon. Let me give you some input to my current status:
Have been running about 15-20 miles a week, sometimes 0 miles though. Been doing strength training for 6 months. Have not been eating very healthy. I am about 15 pounds over race weight. This causes me to feel really sluggish and slow on my runs.
This is now week #2 of my marathon training. I have approx 4 months before, so I will work a solid base for 2 months.
Week 1: 7 runs/39.5 miles
*All runs apprx 8 min per mile pace.
what is the status here
These threads never work. I've never seen anyone reach their goal or continue on the path they set.
The people who achieve their goals aren't writing about it on the internet, just toiling in anonimity.
Keep a daily check on www.runnerslife.co.uk over the next few months
I have lost my desire to seriously train but I would still like to attempt a marathon since this was my original goal.
This time however my goal will be to finish. My training has dropped to about 15 miles every other week.
I work part time at a Cold Stone Ice Cream shop and have packed on another 15 lbs so I am now 30lbs over weight.
I am looking at this as a positive since the marathon I will run has a "Clydesdale" division. This could be a goal to shoot for but I will need to put on another 10 pounds since the min weight is 200lbs.
Wish me luck.
I am the real poster.
Here is your real update:
I've been running pretty consistently. Last year I ran a marathon and did hit a wall about mile 22, and finished in 3:19. This 2007 year was focused on the Chicago Marathon. I DNF'd due to the heat, all my running was done early in the morning and wasn't used to that. I have had some bright spots though. My original goal was to get to 16:30 for a 5k. I ran 17:55 for a 5k this fall. Right now I'm the hospital hanging out with my wife and my newborn child. I'm gonna keep running over the winter this year though, nothing extreme, but stay in shape. Honestly I still care about my running greatly, but I'm not as determined to hit 16:30 as I once was. Good luck to everyone.
PS. I do love coldstone...who wouldn't love some of that cake batter Ice Cream? I don't however work there and I weigh about 155lbs.
You cannot be serious! Either you are:
A troll who has fooled us from the beginning
Or you're schizofrenic and you're other person posts all the other posts.
Been doing 50 miles per week and going sub 16 this time!
