I don’t see many experts ridiculing the CDC data driven analysis. It’s not surprising the scientists involved in the disasterous IHME model would disagree with the CDC. I think the CDC estimate is the best we’ve got and everyone knows that the estimate is only for the U.S. and could be higher or lower.

Way more people are dying in 2020 than in 2017. Period.
Are you sure the death counts haven't been falsified like the doctors in Colorado have been doing? And aren't we supposed to be getting a lot of deaths from "Climate Change" or has that fad went away?
Not just in Colorado but in Washington as well:

Why trust this data point more than 20 other independent estimates?
Excess death data disproves all this writing, Allen,

They weren't counting people who died of other things back then. You had to die OF the flu, not just have or be suspected to be infected by flu when you died.
By the standards used to count covid-19 deaths, there could well have been 200, 000 dead "from" flu lots of years. It infects tens of millions yearly.
What you mean "We" kemosabe??

As I said, it is somewhat worse than the flu, ~80,000 in the 17/18 Winter flu season to ~102,000 now. If we were smart about it and hadn’t infected so many elderly in NY, NJ, PA, etc. by forcing infected patients into nursing homes, we may have done much better and saved thousands of lives.

That came from the CDC I believe. The Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) is now believed to be 0.26% in the U.S. It may be even lower if the percentage of asymptommatic cases is higher than what they believe.
Numerous studies have already well established that 35% is a big underestimate of the percentage of infections that are asymptomatic. It's more like 90%.

I heard it is 2,600.
Can you believe that wiggly?

This is based on month old data. Some teams like IHME keep changing their guesses wildly such that it’s easy for some of their guesses to appear correct. Given the number of deaths the U.S. is experiencing is less than 4 times a bad flu season (currently less than 1.5 times a bad flu season), an estimate of less than 4 times an Infection Fatality Rate is reasonable in my opinion ... and it may even be much lower IFR. It certainly could have been less if we had listened to the scientists urging us to protect the elderly and vulnerable.

Totally wrong. The 61k number is based on extrapolation from pneumonia and other deaths and hospitalizations
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/how-cdc-estimates.htmI've told you this before but you don't listen. Too busy trying to cover for 2,600.

Not really.. it's a synthesis of all the best data and estimates so far.
And LOL... less than 4 times a bad flu season compressed into like... 6 weeks of deaths.. with tons of distancing.
You really want your numbers to be correct... even with common sense in the way
Another idiot COVID-deniers thread.

Absolutely I would be comfortable with a 860,000 death count from coronavirus for a 0.26% death rate. There are far too many people in this world for the Earth to sustain 8.5 billion+. The Earth is dying because of over population.
You'll be happy to know then about Bill Gate's proposed mandatory population reduction vaccinations which are coming out soon.

2017/2018 look slike a little blip next to COVID.
2017 peak- one week above 10% excess deaths (9-13%)
2020: multiple weeks above 30% excess fatalities.
30%+ more people were dying than normal.
The chart in that article compares "expected" deaths to "predicted" deaths. Where are the "death" death numbers? I "predict/expect" another CDC correction soon.
Al of the comorbidity factors you just referenced are KEY factors into COVID 19. 60% of the world population has several chronic disease factors, controlled by medication. At least another 10-15% of the popultion is in this same disease state however cannot afford the healthcare / medication to mitigate symptoms.
Diabetes, COPD, hypertension, etc. Factor in smoking, vaping, obesity, lack of exercise and the perfect storm exists for a respiratory virus of minimally to unknown pathology to wreck havoc.
Chronic Disease brought on by lifestyle choices is the number one cause of COVID 19 impact globally. Look at the demographics - urban areas, close proximity population, underlying or noted comorbidity, lack of access to preventable disease or health / wellness resources.
This pandemic is a very clear indication of the abysmal health of the USA population and to a lesser degree the world.
This does not event begin to factor in the global warming trend and man's integration with unknown animal types due to mass production for food sources, deforestation etc.
Wash hand, wear a mask if sick and absolutely need to go into public, stay home if sick (employers need to sack up and offer paid sick time no matter what industry or number of hours worked). Vitamin D, Zinc and any other proven sources to boost immune system. Get some aerobic exercise everyday.
