I love Kerr but he was a bit of a bully out there. Anyone see the last time Barega passed him he literally just threw any elbow out to impede him? lol wtf, Jakob better wear football pads when they race.
At the same time this is how I wished Solinsky would have raced. Barega would have knocked Solinsky off the track.
So impressive from Kerr. Perfect racing. But the field more or less handed it to him
Not at all the case. They made the pace weird and he had to get extremely physical many times. Both Hacker and Barega forced him wide. He got boxed/shuffled legally a bunch. If not for some well-placed shoves and his pristine fitness, he’s where Yared was.
Hacker had as much right to take a shot as anyone. He made a ballsy move and just got 5th in a world final. If he got in Nuguses way, too bad. Nuguse could have made his move earlier.
Kerr is a beast now. Total killer. Maybe Yared is just a touch TOO mellow.
I love Yared but I don’t see him ever winning a gold medal at this rate…he just does not have the killer instinct. He’ll get a few more medals before his career ends but I just don’t see how he can get gold unless he has a bit of a mindset adjustment.
No reason Nuguse should’ve been in 4th with 50 m to go. Hacker looked like he wanted to win more than Nuguse out there. Nuguse is a 3:43 miler. You gotta take over.
Really hope Hocker becomes the guy because no one else from US is touching Kerr or Jakob
Nuguse and Fisher are still legitimate challengers (Nuguse has beat Kerr multiple times, both of them have now been handed Ls by Kerr during indoors). Hopefully Hocker (maybe Kessler) can reach this status soon, but they haven't earned that yet. A global indoor silver medal is still a good race for Nuguse. He gets to learn from a Kerr masterclass that he hopefully can counter by outdoors.
but i really thought he comitted some fouls on thete today
It’s indoors. Discrete fouling is part of the game. You’ve got to push and cut a bit to contend. Kerr was well within the parameters of indoor racing.
I understand some pushing at the start but Kerr’s fouling was egregious. Admittedly I don’t really like the guy so maybe that is coloring my opinion, but I think it was too much. At one point he even put his arm out trying to prevent Barega from making a perfectly legal pass on the outside.
the 1500m is too cornered a market between Hassan, Kipyegon and the Ethiopian contingent
but with people closing in 56 lol who knows
an 8.20 is impeccable though well done ESP!
I see her running 3:54 this season. I don’t see her running 14:10. That’s the level it will take to medal. She should go 1500.
1. she has not run that fast ye, but you know who has the other women.
2. the 5k finals are always slow (exceptions being 2016 14.26 and 2020 14.36). The same cant be said for the 1500m finals which are always fast even when they ran 4.08 in 2016 Kipyegon closed in 1.57.xx
aint no way a 1.59, 3.58 woman will be in that mix but never say never
