What kind of scholarship do top NCAA runners come in on?

He did run 47 and finished 2nd at a national meet junior year. He also ran 47/1:17/1:49 indoor senior year before committing. You would think that a 400 guy finishing 2nd junior year would garner more interest. Oh well. 4th place at nationals running the 400 leg freshman year.

Are these 1500m/3000m times? Otherwise this does not make sense

I was a 8:30 3k, 3:55 1500m guy back in 2005. Got around 90% athletic scholarship at a mid-major. Working for a recruiting agency now, things are a lot tougher on the Men's side nowadays, whereas on the Women's side it's still relatively easy to get large scholarships.

1600 and 3200. My daughter took 5 visits where she got to know a lot of girls. She also ran some national meets so she knows many of the girls at her level to obviously include her teammates. She said that Wisconsin and Notre Dame were the worst at responding to people. Michigan went after everyone but wanted them all to walk-on. Schools like Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, and Purdue were git or miss on contact but pretty much no money unless 4:50/10:30 combination. A few ACC schools offered 10% to some of them. Of course the Ivies said they could get her admitted.

I hope at least 2 out of 3. I'm not sure what is worse, getting a full ride and sucking a$$ for 4 years and everyone saying you're a bust, or not getting a full ride (partial) and having a successful collegiate career and actually earning your money.

I can confirm that Wisconsin is the worst at follow up or follow through. One of the top kids in the country last year in our state was told to meet the coach before a national meet and the coach never showed up. I thought it was a one off situation and then the coach scheduled a call with one of my athletes and called two weeks afterwards like nothing had happened. Good thing they have a good legacy or they would struggle in the recruiting aspect.

Graham and Maia don’t receive any scholarship money. None. But both are probably making more than full tuition with On and New Balance.

I know of a top girl runner who, a couple of years ago, received a nearly $250k package for four years to a large D1 Southern university. I would call that a "full ride".

Daughter, 2:08/4:55/10:35/NXN Top 40. Highly competitive D1 program — 80% between ath dept and ACT score. After 2-event all conf and 4x semesters conf honor roll, full ride. Some NIL after AA.

This is the current marketplace. NILs are unlocked at certain performance standards. My daughter got 100% full athletic in 2022 with albeit faster times, but she did not hit AA in XC Champs but did score for her team.
