Hi Ken,
This is off-topic but, since nothing much is happening on the Rossi front lately, and you work professionally with video, I wanted to ask your advice on something.
I have around 100 slideshows to music on Windows Movie Maker of various scrambles and mountaineering trips that I've done over the years. I would like to share them with family, who live on the other side of the country but, when I publish them, in order to make them transferable, they come out looking like sh*t due to the images being compressed. My understanding is that the compression works fine for video quality but it sucks for photography.
Anyhow, I know that there are a few sites online for slideshows, but I was wondering if there's a program or internet site that you would personally recommend for this.
I'm looking for something that will allow up to 150 photos to a slideshow, doesn't compress image quality, allows me to use my own music and, preferably, allows me to post the video online, without losing quality. Also, it would be nice if it's relatively cheap.
Any suggestions?
I recommend a site called Animoto. I used to do my slideshows myself and as soon as I found this site I started using them. Slideshows at weddings have fallen out favor, but I still offer them at a price that nobody would take me up on. LOL
But Animoto is great because you can pretty much do whatever you want, have as many pictures as you want. They have themes, and transitions and it's very easy. You just upload photos and tell it how long you want each one.
The music can be tricky because they now have software that detects if you are using anything copyrighted. But I know you can upload songs you want and if the site won't allow it they will tell you and you can try something else.
Animate does let you care online as well. But you can pay small additional fee and download the video in HD and re-upload it to any site you want.
Good luck with it.
