Uh, yeah......and also because it was a completely avoidable thing, seeing as how he saw her far in advance and still hit her.

Amen to that Flagpole.
Okay, hold on here a second malmo. Look, I don't disagree with you (and flagpole) in general about cyclists (though I think you are exaggerating a bit to agree with the "ALL CYCLISTS" are a-holes pronouncement) . Many (not all) are self-important A-holes. But...
a) weren't you the one who used to defend triathletes as our "brothers in sweat" when many of us would bash them? Yes, you were.
You think triathletes are better people (less a-hole-ish) than cyclists??? No way. They have all the negative attributes of a cyclist, but with added douchebaggery from the obsessive compulsive desire to stand out and be "special" while obsessing about and spending countless hours training for THREE activities (not just one) that they are often mediocre at best in. Or do you know agree with us on tri-guys and gals?
b) weren't you planning on taking up cycling years ago? Is this how you came to your opinion about cyclists? But then didn't that make you "an a-hole cyclist" too for awhile? Or did you not take up the sport?
You're struggling, T- Rex.
Flagpole said, "I'm not saying there aren't nice ones out there, and I certainly haven't met all of them, but it seems I've met a representative sample and for some reason, they have all been jerks. Maybe that's just an anomaly"
To which I agreed.
I would never characterize cyclists in the way that you just did. If time spent on an activity that you will be mediocre in is wasted time, then your entire life has been wasted, hasn't it, Eric?
I simply concurred with Flagpole's observation that has matched mine, and had given a specific example watching criterium bike races. Don't believe me. Next time a bike race comes to your town, go and watch, see for yourself. They're absolutely insane.
But back to the topic. Every single one of us have seen cyclists in action on the streets in our daily lives. Do they obey traffic signs and stoplights? Rarely ever. We all know that. They simply believe that traffic laws are meant to be flouted. Are they really aggressive - cutting in and out of traffic? Of course, and if you dare tell them to "stop" at a stoplight, they will escalate, swarm your car and pound on it.
We all know this is true. Cyclists are very, very aggressive and their riding habits put themselves and pedestrians at risk. Changing the subject by making personal insults to those who speak the truth isn't going to change reality.

No I'm not. And you are just as big a pathetic a$$hole as ever, probably as bad any cyclist out there. If you noticed, which in your forever rush to be a contentious dick you of course did not, I was basically agreeing with you and asking you reasonable questions, NOT "changing the subject (and) making personal insults." What nonsense (NOW I am insulting you, but only after you did to me)

. WRONG. Either your memory is getting truly $hitty in your old age, or, more likely, you are a flat out liar. The exchange ACTUALLY went like this -
*FLAGPOLE* - "every cyclist I've ever met was a genuine a$$hole"
*MALMO*- AMEN
*FLAGPOLE* (backpedaling a bit) states that he is "sure there are some nice cyclists out there" that he hasn't met.
*MALMO* "You've met one cyclist, you've met them ALL"
TRANSLATION- (c'mon, Malmo, even *you* can be honest about this one)- MALMO SAYS ALL CYCLISTS ARE A$$HOLES.
THAT is what you wrote, and THAT is what I quoted you on. I then actually agreed with you that you are mostly correct, but overstating a bit. I further asked you if, because you feel this way about cyclists, you have changed your mind about triathletes, who, by definition are cyclists (but are even more OCD). And lastly, if you ever took up cycling. And you ignore my questions and get all bent out of shape. Seriously, what in God's name is your problem?
(and as far as being me being "mediocre" in all of life's activities I've spent time on, you don't know my life malmo, don't pretend that you do. I was a better runner in HS than you, and received a full tuition scholarship to a D1 program. Injuries made my college and post-college running life not up that level. Once again, you are dishonest, an A-hole, and yes, dishonest).

I actually know quite a few runners like this! LOL!

That's unfortunate. In all the years, running with hundreds, if not a thousand runners, I've never known anyone like that. Perhaps you're running with the wrong crowd?

Whether you were "better than me" at Polk High is irrelevant, even if it was true. But it's not true, is it? You don't show up in any of Jack Shepards annual high school lists, no college results, no post college results. You are delusional.
In each and every thread you "participate" in, you are completely over-the-top hyper-aggressive and you try to pick fights with everyone. Every single thread involving you melts down. As Sir Lance-alot. As Frank N Stein, and now as Tyrannasauous Rexing. You are exactly the same as those cyclists we are referring to in this thread. Calling people A-hole isn't the end of it. You come up with really bizarre homo-erotic epithets to hurl at people. God only knows what dark places your mind takes you to come up with some of them.
No, it's not, only because you claimed that I have been mediocre at all the things I've spent time on. Unlike you (who LOVES to talk about himself, including his Pac Man exploits and Excel genius, etc, etc, etc), I only offer information about myself when challenged and when who I actually am is completely mischaracterised. I'd be happy to never talk about myself on here, both because I enjoy my privacy and also because I want the conversation to be about ideas, not me. But sure, if challenged, maybe I enjoy smashing the delusions of people like yourself that assume that everyone who isn't them must have sucked at all of life's endeavors. It's only relevant because YOU brought it up, and as we will see, want to continue to obsess about it-
Sorry, not delusional. Wow, you are really obsessed with this, huh? Trying to research/fact-check my life? Sad.
For the record-
a) maybe I misspoke in saying I was flat out "better than you in HS." You were certainly the better 2-miler and X-C runner (at least by senior year). But, and I guarantee this, taking all of HS together, and all events, I was on par with you (and better in some events). This despite missing nearly a year of quality running as a soph/junior due to injury/illness. I know your times, you don't know mine. I don't need to state them, as this will only result in you not believing them or actually figuring out who I am ( you don't know, you've proven this before. But I know this is some sort of big goal of yours)
b) college and post college I already said that injuries derailed me. I did not compete much. Sorry that throws you off the trail, sleuth. You've proven nothing (though I am certainly appear in many lower level results post-college)
lol. Malmo, in the past, sure, I have been involved in a lot of "fights" on here ( I apologize for some of this). A lot of that had to do with politics, specifically W. Bush and the Iraq war. They are/were emotional topics. but don't single me out this regard, that is absurd (this place is a pig sty and you know it. Hey, you helped run it! Take a bow). And you've been involved in so, so many battles on here it is not even funny. So much of your behavior on here has been pathetic and despicable that it's hilariously hypocritical for you to call me out on my "netiquette". And I won't even go into your juvenile use of your moderating power to attempt to intimidate others or remove their posts because of your personal/political dislikes/whims. At least as many people think you are an A-hole on here as there are that think that about me. Easily.
(as far as "homo-erotic" epithets, I have no idea what you are referring to. I am sure I at some point in the 10+ years I have been here I was juvenile and called someone "gay" or something like, but usually because they were the the types to always use those types of slurs. Just giving them some doses of their own meds. Maybe you are thinking of the many, MANY imposters that use versions of my name??? Probably. One of the posters I hate the most on here is constantly calling everyone a "fa-got, homo, butt-pirate" etc, etc. and I call him out on this nonsense. (and sometimes he uses my name, well, with an extra "n" or one less "n". ) So, again, no idea where you are coming up with this.
You think you know who I am, and you think you can recount all of the posts that were actually mine and which weren't. You don't, and you can't. Give it up. Get a new hobby. Cycling? seems perfect for you)
People with even less of a life than I have.

Amen. What runner has never run across the road at a red light, run on the road designated for only cars and cyclists, aggressively run around walkers or slow runners on greenways, pounded on the hood or trunk of cars that nearly hit them?
Any updates?

And again: sure - but that kind of thing happens with car drivers all the time without it attracting the same attention.
I saw a cyclist yell at a toddler in a packed Riverside Park for stepping backwards when the cyclist was traveling at high speed.
Cyclists seem to live in their own world in which they have the right of way and it's everyone else's responsibility to get out of the way.
I don't mind cyclists going fast in Central Park when it's fairly quiet and the tourists have disappeared for the day but that part of Central Park is always crowded with tourists during the day and the cyclist needs to ride responsibly.
I'm not sure what happened here but the rule is for cyclists to "Yield to pedestrians trying to cross the loop!"
