This IS about a 3200m race. NON and NBON don‘t stack the field to 37 and put more of an emphasis on winning than records, so there is less expectation for crazy fast times. Also because of NIL politics the talent pool is split between the two meets. No split at Arcadia. It’s got all the potential, they are just stuck in their traditions.
I know they don't like to because of "tradition", but if you have five guys who you think can break the record, you interview all 5 of them (which they did), and all 5 basically say they're not going to take it out, that's probably your queue to get a pacer.
I'd agree. With five very talented guys who all want to beat each other, it's unlikely, especially at that level of age and experience, that one is going to go to the front and try and run the others into the ground.
The only way you might have had a fast time is with a couple of pacemakers..
These kids cheat their way to sub 4 with carbon shoes, yet they have underdeveloped aerobic development so they can't "fake" their way through 8 laps the way they can for 4 laps.

Man, all we need are a couple of quick dudes who've got some balls. Nowadays, it's just too many damn snowflake coaches turning our kids into little plebs. Biggest disappointment of Arcadia was seeing this 3200m slug race, especially for the talent on the field.

WTF were their coaches telling them. "This is Arcadia, don't run fast. It's just about sitting and making the team." Unfortunately for these dingwit coaches diving advice, there is no team on the line. You come to Arcadia to run fast.
A huge disappointment for the boys and even the girls 3200m’s. Jane totally rocked it, lolling around like a professional. None of the other girls were able to break the 10-minute mark.
The girls 2-mile was not a "disappointment." It was not the 2023 race but it was the second fastest race ever. If you adjust the times about 3.6 seconds to convert 2-mile to 3200m, there would have been three under 10:00.
2019 (3200m) - 1 under 10:00, top-3 9:59, 10:12, 10:12
2021 (3200m) - 0 under 10:00, top-3 10:01, 10:05, 10:15
2022 (3200m) - 1 under 10:00, top-3 9:55, 10:00, 10:11
2023 (3200m) - 9 under 10:00, top-3 9:52, 9:55, 9:56
2024 (3200m) - 1 under 10:00, top-3 9:58, 10:02. 10:02
2025 (2-mile) - 1 under 10:00, top-3 9:34, 10:01, 10:01
The 3200m times are now posted and there were three under 9:59 and seven under 10:04. Easily the 2nd fastest race ever. The 2023 race was one for the history books. We may not see that again for a little while.
Arcadia racer here, very disappointed, traveled far for a supposedly fast race and went out so slow, didn’t even end up getting a pr.
That stinks. Sorry to hear that.
Would you have PRed in the other (second fastest) heat? Would it have been better to race for the win in one of the other heats? What could you have done differently?

But the top kids wanted to take some scalps. They wanted to win. Racing is a thing too, right?
Danny Simmons made the race at Arcadia two years in a row, getting outkicked the first time and winning the second time. In 2024, Sadie Engelhardt was supposed to be untouchable in the mile, but Jane Hedengren took it to her and turned it into a serious race. This year Jane destroyed all-time records. We've got some great talents out there today, but we could use more guys and gals with talent who are willing to throw down on the big stage. It seems to be a rare talent.

Actually Jason Parra and Drew Griffith were the ones pushing it early on

Yep those two have stones to lead. Jason at times goes off at 60 on his first 400. Crazy!

I'm dead serious.
Guys this is it. Accept it.
I really am starting to wonder what's causing the massive influx of fast times recently... they say if something's too good to be true, it usually is
Lmao "snowflake coaches" 😭. Bro you can't be fr, how many HS ran sub 8:45 before COVID? Times are still fast, they could have been faster but all the top guys want to win. Running tactically gives them the best chance 😭

Or to win the race? For some people maybe slow races benefit them? Possibly those who can close in 54? Like I get wanting fast races, if that is the case then there should be pacers in the race, don't blame high schoolers for doing what they think gives them the best chance to win 😭
