He is. He also thinks that 80 degrees is optimal weather for a 5k and that times are the only thing that matter even across eras (sorry Jesse Owens but you wouldn't even place at NCAAs).
Also, he seems to not understand the existence of running outside the US, as he has claimed that "She gapped a field of the very best high school distance runners in the world by 28 seconds" and continues to call her the "GOAT of high school girls distance running" despite the fact that a number of high school aged African women have posted superior performances.
Lived in San Diego for 20yrs. Trained as an Ironman Triathlete in San Diego every day for 15 years. Have run and biked 1000s of miles around San Diego. Including many runs in Balboa Park. An 80 degree day in non-humid San Diego is indeed optimal conditions for a fact it’s far more optimal than the “low 40s, heavy rain during the race, mud and slop conditions when Jane Hedengren set the NXN course record beating Katelyn Touhy’s old record. So yes . . . I know from extensive personal experience that an 80 degree run in Balboa Park with his heavy tree cover/shade over much of course is “optimal running conditions.”
Hey fake coach Dahl. You've never lived in San Diego. But you have gotten beaten up by a White House staffer for being a jerk.
I'm starting to feel like this "byu123" poster is anti-Hedengren and is trying to drum up the same animosity against her that the Tuohy cult did over the last few years. Maybe he is part of the cult itself. The incessant over-the-top defense of Hedengren while demeaning everyone else reminds me a lot of that "gorun"/'semihaze" poster.
FYI, byu123 is another screen name of the430miler, which he admitted to in a byu123 post a few days ago that predictably got deleted because he posted some things he shouldn't have.
Untrue. Have zero idea who “the430miler” is. BYU alumni and fan of Hendegren. That’s all. Your flat lying re “I admitted to . . . blah blah blah.” You’re full of it.
Would absolutely love to see Hedengren vs. Engelhardt in the mile at Brooks PR, for bragging rights. Clearly Engelhardt has been injured recently, though. I hope it can still happen.

Silly child. This is a running forum. My only point from the beginning is that for the history of all US High School female athletes Jane Hedengren is the best, faster, better than all the rest at all distances between 1 mile and 5K, outdoor, indoor, cross country. She in fact holds national records in all these distances. Records set within the last 6 months. These are the facts. She is the best. Better all the rest. The GOAT within all US High School female athletes at these distances. This is indisputable fact. So yeah . . . that’s my sole point. All the childish ad hominems are sophomorish, petty, and irrelevant. To the fact that Jane Hedengren is “the GOAT” of US high school distance runners.
She was not rocking any spikes, but she's got some super shoes on. Good thing this is just a high school race and not the NCAA or an open meet. I think it would be a DQ.
What on earth are you talking about? She's wearing Dragonfly 2 Elites. They're legal in WA, NCAA, USATF, etc. I bet 90% of the field was wearing some version of the Dragonfly spike.

Liar. I've known a lot of BYU alumni and none of them talk all kinds of trash like you do, fake coach Dahl. You should have stuck with the San Antonio university story. You are doing a lousy job of pretending to be Mormon.

Ha, that explains a lot. I just looked at his posting history - he has been slobbering over Hedengren and demeaning Engelhardt since day 1. He created an account on March 22 just so he could make this post:
What has been established so far: He hates Elizabeth Leachman and Sadie Engelhardt; he slobbers over Jane Hedengren and Zariel Macchia. What other high school runner girls has he targeted?
I was in attendance at Mary Cain's 9:38 record in Boston and that was unbelievable to watch, it was so far out there I thought nobody would break that for decades. And this girl goes and knocks it down by 4 seconds just 12 years later!
Sounds like Jane Hedengren is making a clear case for greatest female HS runner of all time?
Fastest times doesn’t necessarily mean greatest. she needs to win big races
How do you know Sadie is not injured? The main criticism of her over the years is that she races too much. Look at her racing schedule since she was 14. This is a girl that loves to race.
If she just only wanted to avoid Hedengren she could still run other meets. The fact that she has not been racing at all may be an indication there are other issues. Stop making assumptions, or maybe you have some inside knowledge to share...

Hedengren has already won NXN, Woodbridge, Nike Indoor Nationals, Nike Outdoor Nationals, Brooks PR, and Arcadia. Is that enough big races for you?

Fake coach Dahl has no inside knowledge. He just likes to pretend that he does so that he can say derogatory things about teenagers. What kind of horrible person does that?

Sadie says she is planning on running at Bryan Clay. Hedengren had not declared an intention to rub Bryan Clay at the time. Since Hedengren has registered for Bryan Clay running the 5K. Sadie is not registered. Sadie appears nowhere on the heat sheets. Sadie says she plans on running Bryan Clay. Then Hedengren registers for Bryan Clay . . . Sadie doesn’t register for Bryan Clay as she had previously indicated she would. No “inside information” just those 👆 facts. Draw your own conclusions. 🤷♂️

No inside knowledge. Just know that here Sadie says she is planning on running at Bryan Clay. Hedengren had not declared an intention to rub Bryan Clay at the time. You idiot. Why are you to trying to create fake drama? Hedengren is running the 5k at Bryan Clay. Engelhardt was planning on running the 1500. Since those are 2 different events they would have exactly ZERO percent chance of competing against each other at Bryan Clay even if Sadie ran there.
It's stunning how crazy you are. Go back to being a fake college professor and fake tanning salon owner and stop creating trouble.
Best female HS runner ever. Mary Cain a close second.
What she did at NXN this year was jaw dropping. I was there and the conditions were abysmal and she set the course record.
I think now is a good time to point out Mary Cain was 8th at the world championship in high school, and won two US indoor titles...Hedengren has a clear case for being the long distance high school GOAT, but she would need to run at least 14:40s to be on Cain's level (even adjusting for women's running getting more competitive).
They raced last year at Arcadia in the mile and Sadie crushed Jane over the last 400. Yes, Hedengren is much faster this year but what kind of closing speed does she have? We have yet to see that in her HS career.
Uh . . . the US National High School record for the girls 1 mile run is held by Jane Hedengren. No US high school female athlete has EVER ran the 1 mile as fast as Jane Hedengren and she did this last month on a 200M track with 2x the turns and 1/2 the straight aways. Last year Sadie and Jane raced??? Sure “last year” i.e. in the past Sadie beat her in a 1 mile race. It’s simple Jane Hedengren has improved since then and is now a superior 1 mile athlete than Sadie Englehardt. That . . . and she beat Englehardt by over a minute at NXN. So yeah . . . as of TODAY . . . Jane Hedengren is a better, faster, 1 mile athlete clearly evident by the fact she holds the US national girls 1 mile record of 4:26.14. It’s really quite simple. Strange you can’t understand something as basic as this. 🤔
Just jumping in to point out Mary Cain ran a 4:24 mile as a "US high school female athlete"...Alexa Efraimson also ran a 4:03 1500m, which is certainly better than a 4:26 mile. Even Kate Murphy's 4:07 puts her on a similar level to Jane. And while 9:34 is a massive NR in the 2-mile, there have been quite a few 3k times in the 8:58-9:02 range that often get forgotten in conversations revolving around 3200/2-mile. Not to mention Cain's 8:58 came in a tactical race with the last mile in ~4:39, beating the best juniors of East Africa...
An earlier poster put it best: Hedengren is amazing on the US stage, and putting herself in the conversation for top 10, even top 5 all-time. But Decker, Cain, Fairchild were all not only ridiculously dominant on the domestic level, they made their mark at the international level, which Jane has yet to do (and frankly, will not be able to do until later in her career). She should be celebrated, but not at the expense of other extremely talented athletes, including her peers (Englehardt, Leachman, and yes Tuohy).
