Are you people really this obtuse. She did not do a double, 100 miller, and marathon in consecutive days. The logging system does not allow you to log multiple races on the same day. The double marathon and marathon after the 100 were part of the 100 miler. It is like counting a 20K world record during a half marathon. She counted three marathons as part of her 100.

This is all you have to know. You doubt the Badwater claims are false now? She claims to have run all this in three days. Every ultrarunner knows a nice double marathon before a 100 miler is normal right ?!? Lol. Then to hammer a 23:00:00 flat for a 100 miler is spot on!!! And an elite time too!! Then of course the old "marathon cool down" the day after is skways good for recovery! She must think she is invincible. Fraud alert!!!

Also, forget the marathons completely, no way did PM run 100 miles in 23 hours. Not in 23 hours, 59 minutes and any number of seconds, but certainly not in exactly 23 hours either. So obviously these are self reported times. It's mind boggling to me that Guiness or Badwater or whoever would allow self reported times from a "race" put on my the person in question.

Steve, its been awhile. Welcome back! Each of these races were individually logged and counted on her site and for her records. Each of these events was ALSO advertised as separate races.

Stop trying to confuse the issue like you typically do. I love the continuous, revolving marathon discussion on this new thread. Kind of think this is what you are referring to doing??? (see bottom of thread).

Question, do you have to pay 3-4x even though you are running them all at the same time? Good grief.

It's entirely possible that PM has been cheating in ultras and mis-representing her FM accomplishments; however, I don't think it's true that she is "a 6-hour marathoner on a good day."

Before PM got into ultras and the whole FM thing, it looks [per athlinks] like she was running about a marathon a month and doing them in 3:45 give or take. Nothing amazing but perfectly solid for a woman in her mid 40s. I checked out the splits [10M, 1/2 marathon, 20M, finish] for her 2008 Vermont cities:

Those look legit both in isolation and compared to people who finished near her.

As she got older and started running/walking more races, her times got slower, but it's perfectly possible that if she trained for a one-off marathon starting today, that she could run one this fall in about 4 hours.

I agree. But for the past few years, she is a 13:45 min pace marathoner. When that is the case, you don't start throwing down 2 min per mile faster pace in the back 1/4 of an ultra marathon. Marathon pace and 50 or event 100 mile paces are not even on the same planet. I am just saying numbers mean things. Yes, it is always in the context of one's current fitness levels (or lack thereof). Currently, the 6 hour marathon claim is probably generous. Power walking is 15 min miles at the fastest for her. She has been doing nothing but walking the past few years. In any event, 11 min miles in an ultra for her is not realistic. And, she is not one of the top female ultra runners in Texas I am guessing. To be matching the times of the elite women is a bit too much for us to believe.

When racing, you are either doing a marathon OR you are doing a 100 miler. You are not doing both. Show up with all the others. Run it WITH them. Run one of the other. Racing 101. This is how it works my friend, especially when you are trying to stuff running records down people's throats.

I learned about the Marathon Maniacs and Angela Tortorice's group while visiting Dallas last Thanksgiving. They were holding 4 marathons over the 4 day weekend - 1 per day. The course is loops around a lake - 8 loops plus an out and back for a marathon. They welcome half marathoners too - 4 loops plus a shorter out and back. Turnaround for each distance is clearly marked. I signed up for one of the half marathons. It is not chip timed. There are watchers who call out your number as you approach so it can be logged. All on the up and up. About 50 runners. Great people. I had a great time and would go back and do it again.

After the event I noticed on Athlinks.com that my race was listed as a marathon instead of a half. I had miraculously improved from a 5ish hour marathoner to a 2ish hour elite! I contacted Athlinks and tried to get it corrected, but they responded back that this is the way it was officially reported from the RD and they couldn't change it without the RD's approval. The official results just list finishers and times, so I look like a superstar. I guarantee you, I am not.

My point is that this is another way to cheat. Do one of these small races where it gets reported as a marathon regardless of what distance you ran.

And no, I have no intention of using this for any gain, BQ time, or anything else. It's just bad data.

Wrong group. You're talking Dallas. PM was in San Antonio last Thanksgiving. WIth about 5-10 runners finishing her turkey day races.

BTW, "subject line" trolls.... since you're new here, let me explain: The subject introduced us to PM. THere is a character limit on subject lines, hence the option for posting a larger message (it ain't twitter, it's LRC). If the subject had said "PM and her wacky FM lifestyle," no one would have clicked. The OP used a subject to draw attention to his post all about PM.

If you want to talk about other cheaters at other races, do it!!! But, do it in a different thread. LRC has outed many cheaters at many races of many distances. And they are all in different threads.

Is there still a Larry Macon angle here. Was his name just used by PM to validate her races or was he using PM races to bump up his marathon total?

there are certainly a cast of characters in this frequent marathoners club. i wonder how many are legit. we should start looking at some of the runners in PM's results and see if some are involved in some type of frequent marathon cheating ring.

Oh wow! PM was DQ'ed at the 2013 RR 100! She's been moved to the bottom as a DQ!!! Not in results anymore! Is this for real???
