No body cheats at the Elks Flag Day Marathon and gets away with it. NOBODY.
No body cheats at the Elks Flag Day Marathon and gets away with it. NOBODY.
Given the vast number of Bucket-List Runners (BLRs) who try to BQ or acquire other notches on their belts, I'd bet that cheating occurs. I can't evaluate this case, but, judging from the many who cheat in college (my world), misrepresentation in running wouldn't surprise me. In league tennis, sandbagging (playing below level) is endemic--and pathetic.
It's sad that she has resorted to this. It's one thing to cheat on your own times, it's quite another to fake someone else's time. I honestly believe Larry Macon has no idea she's doing this.
Have you ever heard of a virtual marathon??????!!!
You care why exactly?
She should fire her coach midseason.
"Welcome to I Ran Marathons Virtual Race. All 2014 scheduled event will have virtual option except for marathon and ultras! I Ran Marathons encourages everyone to challenge yourself and active your goals. Creating virtual races this year will help you challenge yourself to run alone, with a friend or a group of runners / walkers. You may attend virtual events anytime and anywhere. All events include bibs, finish time and medal unique to that specific event. You may also order shirts for an extra cost."
So...yeah...
As I stated above, she uses her world records and number of marathons run to get advertisers and sponsors. Pretty sure they would care if their sponsored runner is not actually running the races.
Ok, it took a little research to understand what you are all worked up about. Your original post is so poorly written.
Bottom line: Parvaneh Moayedi, a 50 year old women, claims to have run the Elk Flag Marathon in 6:53:53 (that's a 15:48 pace for those of you keeping track) - And you don't believe her.
You care, because between the years of 2012 and 2013 she got credited for setting the world record for most marathons run by a female in consecutive days. (168 days) And you feel if she lied in the results in the Elk Flag Marathon she could have led about the results for her world record.
Is that about right?
...and your looking out for the sponsors
Yes, that is correct.

1. No one remembers Parvaneh actually running.
The results show she "ran" a 6:53 marathon. that bothers you?
And what world record are you talking about?

Thanks. That was infinitely clearer than the OP.
What bothers me is that:
1. I know for a fact she did not run this race
2. She also recorded that Larry Macon (another world record holder) ran in this race. Larry was in Utah running in another marathon.
3. She uses her credentials as a "world record holder" to receive endorsements and sponsors
She currently holds the world record for "most marathons in a single calendar year by a female"

Hey it's your life...your time.
If you feel that strongly go contact race directors, sponsors, etc. with your evidence. But be prepared for the consequences if you are wrong. Maybe you should simply talk to her first to get her explanation, or at least, tell her what you are going to do.
6+ hour marathon? I don't see you getting a lot of help here.
How do you know she didn't run it? Because you saw her at the start line later in the day? Dave McGillvary runs the Boston Marathon after everyone else is finished. He still gets credit. She is an inspiration to lots and lots of runners. Take your jealousy somewhere else.

1. You don't KNOW she didn't run it. 2. Ever heard if running two marathons in one day?3. Sounds like you are more jealous of her achievements than anything.

This happened June 14 and you are now just bringing it to our attention?
How can I help?
I was only made aware of this a few days ago. I never thought to check the results. It's very difficult to prove something didn't happen.
However, I do know that I was out there the entire day and never saw her running. She also recorded a "chip" time which would have been impossible since the equipment was taken down by 2:00 PM.
I know for a fact that it would have been impossible for Larry Macon to run a marathon in Utah, then in San Antonio, and then another one on June 15th in San Antonio.
How can you help? Not sure. My goal is not to tear someone down. Honestly, I don't care if someone runs a marathon or not. My concern is that she is possibly profiting off of false claims.
I cannot prove or disprove any other races she has recorded. I can only tell you that from 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM on June 14th that she absolutely did not run a marathon.

email her sponsors.
