Why did all these girls transfer? Does anyone know?

Why does any girl transfer:

They aren't getting what they want from the coach.

Teammates tease at being a vegan.

Doesn't like the academics.

Boyfriend probs.

Better financial deal.

Girlfriend problems.

Never wanted to go to the 1st school anyway (parents).

Seeing thin teammates makes them freak.

Aren't used to a longterm regimented program.

Never been inj before. Never ill (mono) before.

Of those Oregon transfers are Elligible this year?

More common for Ivies to go to Oregon once they have graduated, not as a transfer (although, Waverly Neer transferred there from Columbia after her junior year with two full years remaining due to injury, if I recall correctly).

Now I wonder if PWD will be following Judy to Oregon, or if she started this process before they announced PWD's "departure" as a means to get to a new environment.

Pendergast just showed she didn't belong in the Ivy League. The likelihood that she ends up with a long career as a professional runner is close to zero. The difference in network and career opportunities that she is giving up by going to Oregon is immense. If she wanted to transfer, why not transfer to Princeton or Yale? Stanford would have been a much better choice as well.

Her (Pendergast) father --who is a talk host- is a ND guy and I'm surprised they didn't get a call (maybe they did)?

Maybe there is an academics problem. Some can't hack the Ivy League or even ND and have to go elsewhere. The smartest runners use running to boost their academic credentials. The dumbest chase running glory that actually comes to very few and for most pays dirt.

This one deserves a living Darwin award.

Former XC all American Elizabeth Weiler from Lehigh appears to be attending New Mexico according to their roster.

I heard there was some bad blood w/ her teammates over the PWD fiasco; i guess if she didn't want to see them at races each weekend it makes a little sense to get out of Heps.

She did run the 3rd fastest 5k of any freshman this past season; Oregon is probably a solid place for her running-wise (although Harvard -> Oregon is obviously a strange move academically...).

The following comment by her dad to Milesplit seems to add evidence to that theory:

PWD got her one big performance (sound familiar Courtney) then never again.

Harvard offered a future in the real world.

Oregon and New Mexico are stacked on the ladies side. Stanford too, with all of the incoming freshmen they got.

They seems to have a couple under the radar athletes that have signed.....It's going to be a solid team with the transfers of prouse, kurgat, Weiler.....The addition of Kelati, and still having alice wright. That's 4 runners with All American Status in the past and the foot locker national champion. That's a solid top 5. Will be interesting to see how Oregon fairs....Which should be solid for my ducks even with the Murphy Seemingly not running this xc season.
