No there is not a big difference when it comes to Shannon

There is zero evidence and zero allegations against Shannon.

Shannon may be clean but she runs for a shady coach with many links to verify this, so she subjects herself to more skepticism.

JS does not run for a shady coach and there are absolutely no links whatsoever tying Wetmore or JS to shady dealings so there is a sigificantly greater likelihood that JS is clean.

I root for both runners, but your point was invalid.

Ah yes, 14:38 for 5k, now if she could run that for another 5k back to back without rest, she'd would have a silver medal from Rio.

Simpson seems more like a doper! Runs an 800 meter pr in the second half of the 1500 out of the blue. And finally beats rowbury! All she does is whine about athletes that out kick her everytime so according to her everyone is doped except her. Ya right

She got the American Record as expected and owns both 1500m and 5000m, so she has got to be congratulated. But I still don't think that she was taking enough risks in this race. She was well within herself and apparently picked up the pace enough to run 2:14 last 800m. I think that if she were African, she would have tried to run at the back of the first group, and could have done it. There's more in the tank there. And this is my problem with many of her 1500m runs, she stays back behind Simpson in most races and doesn't go to the well until the last 50m. But I think that Simpson and Huddle could both have run in the 14:30s today (Simpson still has the better 3k time), and Huddle would have had a shot at breaking 14:30 in the shape she showed at the Olympics.

There are big differences between them. Rowbury has been tested many times, and she doesn't falsely accuse other runners.

Simpson goes out of the established system to do this, accusing almost everyone but herself, showing that she is dishonest, and has no qualms about using drugs to cheat other competitors.

Given that you can count the number of times Shannon has raced 5k on your hands, I give her a pass for running conservatively in this race.

This is a new event and over 3 times the distance of her specialty event

She said in her interview after the race that she was relaxed and she had a nice kick at the end so I agree that she could very well have run faster.

As for Jenny and the 5k, her ability to break the AR is currently unknown and I am not as generous as you to give it to her.

Let her prove it just as Molly and Shannon and all of the others have done

Jenny 2x World Medal, 1x Olympic Medal, and 3:57/9:12 to her credit. Career wise I'd probably give the nod to Rowbury unless Jenny runs an AR or gets another World's medal.

Jenny has a gold medal. I think that gives her the better career than being fractionally faster over 1500m. Throw in a ton more national titles and it would be hard to say Simpson was better.

Both have had very, very good careers. The list of american 1500m runners with better ones is very short, and the ones you can argue about being about the same is also very small.

That said, I'd love to see Jenny take a serious crack at the 5,000 AR. Her PR is only 14:56 but she's beaten up on Senbere Teferi in the past, who beat Shannon by 10 seconds here. It would be cool if Molly tried to get it back too, before she moves up for good. The women's 5,000m AR seems to slightly lag behind the other distance events, so hopefully Shannon's run today inspires some of her competition to lower it in the future.
