Case Clinger is the purest racer I've seen. In any sort of national race where tactics come into play, that dude has the close to beat anybody. I think if they were in a tactical 5k, Clinger could change gears faster than Hunter. People will say that Hunter will easily win in an overall fast race, but I think Clinger has a strength that many don't know about. It would be tighter than ppl think.
Just my two cents, from a guy that's seen a lot of Casey's races.

Better than Hunter? Based on what? I'm not equating two NXNs with Hunter.
As a junior in HS, Hunter ran a 4:02 mile and then beat Fisher in the 2 mile in 8:42. Those PRs dwarf Clinger's as a junior (8:50 for 3200). Clinger may be more talented (as there is no doubting Hunter trains at a high level and had great coaching ) but he in now way shape or form better than Hunter through the fall of their respective senior years in HS.
In case you forgot, Hunter won Foot Locker last year by 12+ seconds. Clinger won today by half that ( 6seconds).

Well, regarding that, I recall another thread recently claiming that almost all the top runners in the nation chose NXN over Footlocker this year.

According to Tully RUnners, Clinger earned a 200 speed rating for his win yesterday. Hunter earned a 206 at FL last year. Each point is worth 3 seconds so Hunter would win by 18 seconds according to them.

Stupid premise.
The only way he would beat him is if Hunter had a terrible fall , was injured or terribly ill.
He doesn't have the tools to beat him as someone else said that he did.
He is 11 seconds slower at a mile and 21 seconds slower at the two mile coming into this year. Hunter is markedly improved as per his results.
Push that over 3.1 miles and it is even a bigger rout. If Hunter lost it would be an upset and something would have to be way off, his career has been managed masterfully, and he is an All Timer for sure. Maybe not in Cross but certainly on the track.
