Isn’t Kurt Cobain like the main influence on Neil Young and pretty much the only reason why Neil picked up a guitar?

Kurt Cobain's pathetic drug-addled death spiral was the best one seen since the 1970's, perhaps rivaled only by the final burnout of Jerry Garcia for the 90's #1 spot.

Bullshit kurt took nirvana to no. 1 in the world before his death bro. GET IT RIGHT. Rock music is not about who makes the most intricate music BUT WHO MAKES THE ROCK MUSIC CONNECT TO ITS AUDIENCE. IF YOU WANT INTRICATE MUSIC THEN LISTEN TO MOZART.
...... WHAT A FOOL. ..... YOU MISSED THE THE FIRST RULE ABOUT REAL ROCK MUSIC. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID.
I sometimes wonder: how much of Nirvana was Dave Grohl.
Cobain gets all the credit, but he died so soon. Grohl continued on after Nirvana and has made some really solid songs/albums over the last 20+yrs. Regardless of what you think of FF, they have a lots of intricate, textural, layered songs and melodies. Maybe Grohl was (part of) the genius of that band <shrug>.

Nihilism is popular and thats why people admire Kurt Kobain, because he was a nihilist. He died for a reason.
Umm, if he died for a reason, then, by definition he wasn't a nihilist was he?

Nah, Jerry Garcia took too long to be truly gratefully dead.

Genius
He was a very talented musician and writer, but a philosophical screw up.

Grohl continue on but, to me, none of his FF stuff is even remotely as good as Nirvana
IMO
I was in college when Nirvana hit the big time. Their music seemed pretty decent back then, but it has not stood the test of time. They basically have the musical talent of your local high school garage band.
Cobain was in no way a genius. The genius? That was MTV. Simple as that.....
Nirvana had softer more melodic songs than the heavy metal, punk, dance songs of the time! Greenday sucked and offsoring felt like a personal assault on my mental health, Funnily enough Nirvana didn’t. Kurt was a great songwriter, his songs were melodic catchy and even emotionally cleansing and healing. But who was with me? When i look back it was a dose of avoidance of real interactions yes but it was still a partial release of the inner anger that needed to be vented. Greenday (although melodically bettter than marilyn manson ,metallica and offsoring) was just Random Thrashing and Violence(go see the 1999 woodstock footage) Their fans had their legs broken, Greenday did not provide the emotional connection needed. They didn’t validate my feelings as much as nirvana did, Nirvana had the hurt victim soundtrack i needed and craved to hear at the time,
i just don’t agree he was a genius, he didn’t cure cancer or liver disease or kidney disease. he was ultimately very lucky and selfish. but if courtney gives me a job i’ll retract all this
if dave grohl gives me a job i’ll retract it as well. i need help!
