Trying what? Just giving my honest feedback. Your tone is mirroring Semihaze. No jeed to be rude. Calling tje Zimmer course hilly is not accurate. Stillwater is much hillier. Terre Haute is hillier. Griak is much hillier. If Zimmer is hilly, what are those? Even though Louisville may not be as hilly, it doesn't run like it. Zimmer has nice footing while Louisville has rocks and roots and runs like a cow pasture. It is just way more grueling. I love the Zimmer course. The new Missouri course and the Iowa course remind me of it.
The maps of LG and Zimmer show this is simply not true. I agree OSU is more hilly. The Griak course has a reputation of being fairly tough but I can't find an elevation profile. If you believe Tully speed ratings it is similar to the Balboa Park course in SD which would imply it is not "easy".
Sounds like you do your analyses from a keyboard rather than from real world experience. There is more to it than just looking at a profile. The runninglane course has hills but the uphills are short and steep while the downhills are long and gradual which makes the course seem less hilly than if it went up and then right back down. Terre Haute has switchbacks which immediately turn into hills while Zimmer just rolls into them. Try riding a bike up a hill starting from a standstill as opposed to getting a nice riding start. Running the courses gives the real world feedback. It is akin to wind. I have been to meets where the weather reading says 10MPH and it is unnoticeable while other meets it says 10MPH and it is downright windy. Sitting at home, you would claim both were the same.
If every other championship course had 5 hills, the one with 3 would not be classified as hilly.
no, it would not be classified as the "most hilly" or "hilliest". 2 men can have height of 6'6" for one and 7' for the other. That does not mean the 6'6" one is short, or not tall.
The Nuttycombe course is hilly, and no it does not only have three hills, it has dozens of uphills and downhills, and big rises. Generally if you count, it has more hills than the Stillwater course, but the course in Oklahoma has bigger hills.
I think the reason why you are very defensive about the word "hilly" is because Tuohy ran 3:17/km on a course with hills and it was reportedly "only a practice"?
There is just no way a healthy Parker Valby will get beaten by Tuohy this year and in the upcoming years. Valby is just on another level and looks to dominate NCAA in the next few years if she stays healthy. A new star is born!

Remember she ran 18:58 6k for her first race!
McCabe will outkick both.
At least 2 of "McCabed", "Gatorbite" and "Cook it" will be very disappointed come November 20. Perhaps they can get together to mourn.
Valby time-trialed 18:58 on a short course with minimal undulation. She hasn't completed a competitive XC race since Nov 2021, when she died horribly in the final k. Get back to us after SEC Champs.
Valby went for it, she was leading the race at 3k and 4k. She ran for the win as a freshman, Tuohy ran for 10th. Valby also got tripped and couldn't recover after that:

Earlier in that video dispels the idiotic notion that Valby came out of nowhere to run 15:20 and 18:58. She was pushing the pace at NCAAs last year for the first 4k.

The trip was at 12:50 in the video
right, she did not go down but staggered for a step or 2 - almost took Steelman of NC State out too.
sure.....Louisville is pretty darn flat and hosted a number of NCAA championships. LG has a hill or 2, but I think less than Zimmer. OSU has even more and tougher hills, but a better surface.
Apart from the more subtle differences in the course profiles that others have already addressed, let me just point out that the LG map clearly shows about a 56 foot elevation difference, not 15’.

I'm not sure what the point of the comment is here....Valby stumbled but recovered quickly. She did a good job staying in or near the lead for a while after that. But she just faded. She just didn't have the fitness that day. This is no offense to Valby, but anyone can push the pace for the first 4k...it's the last 2k that matter.
I know Valby had some injuries that year and likely wasn't at full fitness for that race...so good on her for giving it a go. I would expect that she will be much more prepared this year.
