Having been to both locations multiple times and have my own opinion, I'm curious how the veteran runners/coaches/observers out there compare these courses.
The wind at Tom Sawyer will not be near the factor it was/is at Lavern Gibson. Someone (a la Mr. Curtin) could scamper away, screwing up Mr. The King Cheserek's typical plan to wait, wait, wait and then hammer the final 2+ K.
While I would not describe LG as hilly, there is an uphill component from 2K to around 4K and then again on the second time around. Tom Sawyer really doesn't have any hills whatsoever.
Tom Sawyer narrows down sooner than LG a few hundred meters after the start, making the start this year more important (and probably faster.)
I think I like TS better, as it allows for a greater variety of tactical scenarios to develop, vs. the big pack, late breakaway that is common at LG.
Opinions?
