We've closed this thread to new posts. Please discuss this topic in a new thread given the fact she just won the race outright in 2023. Does that mean that the 2022 cheating allegations definitely have no merit?
I have truly never been on strava in my life, but yes, for a narcissistic personality, why make it private?????
I'm not saying this woman cheated. In fact, I'm going to go on record and say she did not break the rules, she ran the whole course, followed all the rules, and had an incredible legitimate race.
But I'd still like to see the Strava.
Why? Because it would be cool as hell to see someone's course record shattering strava data. That's an incredible, life affirming, career defining achievement in one's career and life. I want to look at it, analyze it, study it and be in awe of it. Of all the crap we put on social media, random thoughts, our lunch, stupid dog pics...Then you win the hardest race in the world and you don't post that....Uh...wut?
That's because she is trying to figure out how to get the data from her crew member's watch that ran for her into her own (Ashley's) Strava.
You know the one dressed just like her down to the hair in the same style, the watch, the light on the same side of the shorts, etc. Never mind the fact the shoes were completely different ;)
As soon as Ashley figures out how to finagle the data, I mean transfer, I mean make it look like her own...she'll make it public!
she's probably fast enough to win without needing somebody else help her. that makes it too complicated anyway and what would be in it for the other person? she probably just cut the course, maybe intentionally, maybe not. if you look at her personality she's the type of person who craves attention and internet likes, that sort of person always wants more. winning local races isn't enough anymore, she wants records and the sponsorships and media attention that come with them, but she can't get that without cheating, whether that be doping or course-cutting or whatever else.
She's either the most unlucky person in the world or a cheater.
1.)She claims that Ostarine accidentally got in her supplement causing her to come up positive for PEDS. 2.)She claims that she accidentally cut the course of a half to win the race. 3.)She claims she accidentally cut the course in Squaw 50 to win. What are the odds of all of those accidents?

Yes, this is sarcasm.
I'm not saying she cheated, I'm just lost on the Strava deal if she didn't have it private and now she does.
I've got picture(s) of her in Atlanta, no way she cheated in that race. Impossible, no---but very, very hard to do and not worth the risk as she had to have qualified to get there.
It would be a mistake to assume a cheater stopped cheating. I've witnessed a cheater come out of the woods during a half marathon. When I see a cheater dressed strikingly alike to another runner. I wonder if one of them was planted on the course. But we'll never know JS.
Can someone act on this please? Is there anyone who is pressing her on it, or are we just going to let this one go? This is a mockery of really outstanding runners who have worked really hard on that course to run legitimate times.

It's ultra-running, it's a mockery regardless.
I don't care enough and this isn't important enough to do anything vs the harrassment and credit stealing of Derek.

See what I said earlier in this thread. Chris Kostman, the RD, isn't going to do sh*t.
He didn't have the balls to DQ the LetsRun favorite Parvaneh Moayedi from her "finish" at Badwater, despite overwhelming evidence she didn't complete the whole race.
He black-balled a certain runner who had proof from multiple crew members from multiple teams that a well known, author of a best-selling ultramarathon book and previous Badwater winner cheated and hopped in a van to get ahead of said runner while on the Portal Road.
He's not going to make the tough decision. He would rather "protect the brand". Now, I would argue (as would most) that protecting the brand would mean looking into this, but he will do everything he can NOT to make this a deal at all and risk someone not thinking of his races/organization as "holier than thou".
The old "If I avoid it, it will go away" mentality.

It's my understanding that Derek has retired. Maybe you can take up the torch?

Wait, is this Dean we're talking about? I didn't know about this. Is there an article out there or anything?

I am not saying one way or the other. There is no article that I can think of. It was talked about in a blog (remember those?) post after the race and comments were made agreeing with the blogger (the runner who got passed). This same blog post was taken down due to what may or not have been the threat of legal action by the runner who may or may not have passed the blogger....
