I could be wrong, but didn’t GDS make a pro-Shelby post or story on Instagram last June?
Perhaps it disappeared after being a story or was later removed if it was a post?
Like I said, I could be wrong, but if this did happen (together with the fact that her sister is still involved with BTC) it would illustrate that this is more emotional (fatigue) than it is actually related to a belief that Shelby broke rules.
she is leaving because she doesnt want to get busted.
Athletes have to have faith that their 'team' can drug them properly without getting caught. BTC / nike are proving that not only can they not prtoect their doping athletes from being caught, btu that they cant manage the aftermath either.
she thinks the next place will be able to drug her without being caught.
She is not going to admit anything or implicate anyone. I personally do not think any top pro distance runner is clean. That aside, the issue here is guilt by association due to Houlihan's anti-doping ban. Whether or not the whole team doped, one of their members got caught and that cast a shadow on the whole team.
So all the Pros are dirty, but your precious Tuohy and the NCAA athletes (with their great testing system) are not?! Ok. Tool!
Let's be clear, GDS is not leaving BTC because it is anything to do with her moral choices and views on the group/Jerry/Shelby. In the last few interviews she's done (including LetsRun after NB Indoors), she's been very clear in talking about how much her mental health and anxiety is affected by things and how she struggles with it. Including in the IG post "However this event and its ongoing aftermath continued to be a major distraction and stress for me. For the sake of my athletic performance and mental health, I needed to move on." so without even passing judgement on that comment, this (leaving BTC) is a reaction to being associated with the group and people saying things about BTC/Shelby, moreso than her own personal opinion on what happened.
If you did have some moral issue with the group, beyond the time it may take to be able to leave, why would you advise your sister it's the right place to join?

Why now, and why not right after it happened? Were the contract reasons, or did she suddenly grow a spine?
As an executive in a public job, I can think of many spine-filled options.
Maybe after spending June 2021 with the distractions of a hidden positive and pointless lying within her team, she stated that she wanted an anti-doping policy on BTC… and none was forthcoming after months of Nike doublespeak.
She should get compensation from Nike for possible missed sponsorships while her team was under a cloud in the run-up to the Olympics (when a runner should have the most sponsor value, if not associated with a dirty runner). Maybe that and the obvious contractual issues with leaving BTC as one of its stars took time.
And of course, choosing and ensuring the right set-up in Canada, where training groups are less well resourced than BTC.
Give me a break. “Mental health”? Grow the eff up. You run in circles for a living.
I disagree with what you are saying about mental health in general but in this case I thought it was kind of lame to bring up. You can’t deal with your teammate being busted? What does she care unless she’s dirty too? It really shouldn’t have been that hard to not be distracted by this. Good for her for moving on though although I wish she just said she didn’t want to be associated with a cheating program but unfortunately she didn’t say that. It was too much of a distraction for her
Yup. He actually looked at the facts and stated them unlike the majority of people on here that are brainless and just want to jump to the argument that beat suits their desires. She really isn’t doing anything profound by leaving BTC and she didn’t really take any sort of stance. Don’t know why it’s being made out like she has
I can't believe nobody has yet pointed out that GDS is leaving only 1 week after the "Burrito track club" shirt came out. Was this the final straw? Will Rojo be taking credit for the move?

I do not disagree with this. But if that is the main reason, why aren't any of the BTC members show support for this move?
