Didn't Emma Bates break her foot or leg or something in October and have to cross train for months? I think 12th in 2:27, about 4 mins off her time from last year, is probably what I would expect under those circumstances. Expect low 2:20s if she avoids injury and races in the fall.
Although I don't think much of Bosshard so maybe she'll flounder.

She stepped in a pothole in Chicago and tore her plantar fascia.
Eric Floberg finishes in 2:38:38. Still a PR but not his goal. Good result given the weather or will he be going home devastated?
No sign of his pacer Matt Fox after mile 25.
Good result. That's about 2:35 shape on a faster course.
1) For a guy with track prs in paced races of a 4:57- mile and a 16:31 5k that's pretty darn good. I never bought 2:35 as realistic goal for Floberg. At a certain point you are limited by your VO2 and I think Floberg is starting to bump up against his genetic limitations...
2) Running with Matt Fox raises several red flags...
Dominique Scott, 2016 NCAA double winner from South Africa in the 5 and 10 finished 20th in 2:32:31
Hmm. Kind of underwhelming for Dom Scott (another Bosshard athlete, right?)
She was in 19th at 21 miles two seconds ahead of Simpson and finished almost a minute behind, I'd say the hills got her. I wonder if they said anything to each other as they were running. Both were 2016 Olympians.
No you can't close a 1:22 gap in a mile unless the leader craters!!!
Maybe they're talking about me. I can run 8 minute mile pace, the elite run 4-5 minute mile pace, they can surely cover 1:22 on me! But covering other elite runners in 1:22 where they also average 4-5 minute mile pace? Not possible.
No kidding. He knew what he was doing, though, and proved me dead wrong. I still think this is one of the hardest ways to run a 2:06 (with a 5min+ positive split), but for whatever reason, he decided that was the way to go. Got him the win, so you can't really question it. Let's see if the idiots leave him off the Olympic team.
Lemma's gamble paid off! Insane to see races like this. Take the lead from the start, and hold on for dear life!!
Just like Yuki Kawauchi in 2018! Must of been coached by Kawauchi!
Except that's not how it went for Yuki. The pack quickly caught him and eventually Kirui created a decent gap. But he was wearing a flappy jacket that acted like a parachute, and Yuki eventually caught up to pull out the win.
He may break 1 before we know it. How great would that be?
No disrespect to Hug and other wheelchair racers, but they are excellent athletes participating in an entirely different sport that happens to occur on same day and course as the Boston Marathon.
A human powered racer first broke one hour for the marathon distance back in 1876, riding a bicycle! The winner of a bicycle race on the Boston course may break 40 minutes.
Where is the coverage of the hand cycling or other paralympic athletes at Boston? What about athletes with intellectual disabilities?
And now she’s back up front. Why is she running 2 seconds ahead of the pack??! What’s the point of doing that so early?
Since Emma Bates just came back from injury, I'm guessing she's taking out the pace this fast with the idea of not finishing. I can see her dropping out at 10 miles.

Boy, was I wrong. Good job, Emma.
Looking at how Hellen Obiri finished - I guess front running was a good tactic from Emma, she may have been trying to speed things up.
A slow race then throwing down a 4.41 mile only works for Obiri. If you look at the actual finish time others could have got closer. She is a master tactician. Love to see how Hassan deals with this as Hassan also has amazing finishing speed.
