Eliud Kipchoge Blew His Chance to be WR Holder

OP appears to be pretty silly...

Keitany tried to break the WR in NY in 2011. She has been running high level marathons and not breaking the WR for years.

Only an idiot (and by that I specifically include AK last summer) would have considered her done.

Keitany is not to be compared with Kipchoge. The female records are WEAK compared with the male records. Anybody making the comparison at this juncture in the trajectory of the female records is desperate.

Kipchoge has tried to break the record before and he has FAILED. No shame in that. We should all be so lucky as to fail in that manner.

I don't know the name of the WR holder. I know a fair amount about Kipchoge.

The WR will be broken again after both of these guys are gone either way.

Your lack of recollection is not dispositive on the issue. Kipchoge tried to break the world record in Berlin. This discussion at some level becomes absurd. I don't remember a world record attempt at 10000m by Galen Rupp. What does the statement even mean?

One thing is certain he won't beat the WR in 2017 since he's signed up for the Worlds in London with Wanjiru, well I suppose a gold WR medal is nothing to sneeze at ;-)

Oh and neither will Kipsang since he's the third man on the list

True. I ran a half marathon with those same damp conditions so I'm the first to recognize how hard they had it today.

Wet feet will eventually cool the body too much, plus the annoying water on the clothes and body are far from perfect conditions even without significant wind.

In my opinion Kipchoge should run Dubai which is probably the flattest course you can get. Run 2:02 flat, put the record out of reach to anyone for the next 5 years and then focus on winning the 2019 Worlds and 2020 Olympics.

He has done everything in the Major Marathons really, no point tearing the body in those.

The OP got it right, but for the wrong reasons. Anything can happen in a marathon. In this case, the weather happened.

As usual you are off point. The OP started this thread in May. He never said anything about Kipchoge winning or not winning marathons.
