For shits and giggles, Paula's WR was faster than any man ran until 1958.

In 1958, the 800 WR was 1:45.7.

But the McMillan Fog Machine says the world record should have been 1:47, so clearly that 1:45 was doped.

Did Ann Trason cheat? Babe Ruth was hitting 60 home runs in a season but second place was hitting 20, did The Babe cheat?

But then the men's world record improved by over 6 mins over the following 10 years. Imagine if the best women were now running 6 mins faster than Paula's time (~2h 09 mins)?

Gehrig hit 47 that same year ( 1927 ).

Then it dropped off.
