Calm down. Calm down guys. 2K? How often is that a race? Fair play. Hocker and Kessler are showing fantastic early season form. Kudos to both, I'm excited. But come on, breaking a 2,000m WR is about as about as impressive as breaking a London Marathon novelty costume WR.
It’s a Bekeke WR.
Wejo's article said that was Bekele's last WR/WB, but...he still has the masters 40+ world record for the marathon, 2:04:15 London, April 21, 2024.
Go Hobbs!!! He's still young and in an era of so much talent. Glad he didn't let one year of struggle throw him off his game. I'm huge fan and look forward to Millrose which will be big test for everyone.
Come on. No one believes that. Jakob has actually run 3:26.67, but with 1:46 pr and more to the point for comparison, 4:43 2k, five seconds faster. I am really psyched for Hobbs to get this world indoor record but it does not indicate anything like those times in the table. What it does indicate is that he may go sub-3:46 at Millrose.
First thing I noticed today was that Kessler seems to have put on some more muscle. If so, it seems to have worked - he looked dominant today, very comfortable from the get-go.
I am entertained. This was a really good performance from him but even more importantly, he was extremely comfortable and champing at the bit until near the end when he really had pop, something he hadn't shown in a while. He looked great out there and there's every indication that he will be among the best at the 1500m this year.

Hocker and Kessler?! Why is Hocker showing fantastic early season form and not Fisher running over 3 seconds faster.
You better watch out for Kessler. If he ever gets it altogether he could be the best in the world 1:43 800 meter speed, 3:46 mile 3:29 1500m and only 22 years old. He has all the talent to be great, possibly the most talented American distance runner. He ran a 3:34 1500m while in high school for goodness sake.
It's cool to see American runners doing so well and getting these records but honestly I care way more about outdoor and so does the rest of the world for the most part...
What is the deal though? Hopefully it goes differently but so many of these people start the season so promising and then fizzle out when it "matters"...

This year doesn’t matter as much since there’s no WC, but you figure some of these people would have started their season a little later last year.
Yes, I think Kessler has been primarily coached by Henner for a couple of years (King would definitely know since it sounds like he still talks to Ronnie regularly).
For those in the know, who has he been training with recently? He mentioned in his interview that his new training partners influenced him regarding how disciplined he is related to other factors besides actual training.

I think at this point you can ignore the indoor tables for any race longer than 400m. Indoor isn’t slower anymore.
1248 points. Worth 3:29.80 for 1500m or 1:42.60 for 800m.

I do talk to Ron regularly, and spoke yesterday and he could not be happier for Hobbs. I believe the full transition is a little over 18 months old. Hobbs needs a full time resource and does most of his work at Flagstaff. He has a house there, I think and a few guys pop in for a bit, I think. Ron built a great foundation after seeing Hobbs was an amazingly gifted talent. I believe Hobbs only ran 4:50's-5;00 as a freshman, to 3:34 in 3 years plus with Ron. He was surrounded by a very solid group and flourished quickly. Many talents can level off, before the next real drop kicks in. I don't know, obviously I have been a fan and shill for years, but I never saw him look that good, or make such a confident move , drawing off last 110M. I said to my wife when he came up on Grant's shoulder on back stretch, this is over, she said how do you know? I said, you can see it after a while, there was not a sudden jerk into high gear it was a smooth overpowering move at 26.3 last 200m off a 3:53 1600, very impressive I thought.

Do you know who the athletes are that Hobbs says he has support from? He certainly sounds quite appreciative of his current setup.
