Long runs are not an absolute requirement for preparing for 5K or 10K races. I understand that many training philosophies hold them up as essential—they are often framed as a necessary foundation for endurance, aerobic capaci...
I was slightly discounting him this indoor season because he was out for a month this fall with a nasty ankle injury ... but this is very good. Does not seem to be doing to much peaking work from his strava so i'm excited to see what he manages to do later in indoor and outdoors
The kick was insane. 26 last lap. I've never seen that Cole Hocker close from him before. It was wonderful.
His post-race comments were great on NBC.

I was super, deeply disappointed with how last summer went., I didn't make the US team. I ran poorly at Diamond leagues, and it was really hard to get training again, because I feel like I worked really hard and nothing came of it. But I train with a super group of guys and just hanging out with them made it fun to train again. They have really good habits. I picked up on their good habits, and things are so smooth. So Oh, that felt so good. It was bitter not performing how I felt that was capable of last year.
and then this on the big kick.

Well, that's a skill my coach that I've been working on. He went, ‘Don't squeeze - explode!’ So that's what I tried to do. (In the past, I think I was) trying to control the effort. He's like, ‘Screw that. Punch it’. Wow. So that's what I tried to do. And not worry about the last 30. Luckily, I created enough space. But it's a skill we've been really working on. I think I've had the physical capabilities, but running fast when you are tired is a skill, and that's what I kind of lost but had to re-learn.
I’m always surprised with how Grant does in these shorter races as he is like number 6 or 7 all time in the 10k but I guess I shouldn’t be.
Love Hobbs! Love to see him with a win!
And by how grant does. I mean he does really freakin well
My thought exactly.
Rojo has a mad on that Grant didn’t race world Cross Country
Without Hobbs in that race Grant would have another WR. He front ran the race. pacer was ineffective. Without Grant in that race, Hobbs doesn’t set the WR
