Was thinking the same thing. Totally cost Mantz, I think it would've been a photo finish with all 3 of them
Anyone else think that last minute shift that redirected 2nd-4th place to the other side of the finish line messed up Mantz’s kick? Seems like Mantz was winding up a kick but then got thrown off when he had to go right (and anround the other teo$ instead of a straight shot to the finish on the left.
I'm assuming that these fast times, including Mantz's, have something to do with a tailwind? Was there, in fact, a tailwind? When Hall ran that superfast race some years back, there was a notable tailwind.

It looked to me like Kotut might’ve thought the finish was the tower not the finish painted on the ground.

Every shoe company is going to come out with their new version of the Pumas now. I'm not saying Rory isn't fast but the shoes definitely helped carry him there.

Don't think so. Substantial gap between 2-3 and Mantz.

Makes no sense, they wouldn’t do it in a close finish for the win.
Conner always delivers. Great race. Hopefully he can keep improving.

Yes but does not count due to the point to point course, if I understand correctly. Under the official AR though.
At 23 miles the women's pack is down to three, with Lokedi, Obiri and Yehualaw coming through in 2:18:11 pace with 5k to go
John Korir goes from falling in the first meters to winning Boston, great run
Amazing run from Mantz, another step up in his marathoning career, as it was for Simbu and Kotut getting on their first WMM podium
Hell of a run by Conner Mantz. He was pushing so hard to break Kotut and Simbu those last two miles but just couldn't shake them.
He'll be a little bummed to have just missed two HUGE accomplishments as he was only 4 seconds off the podium and 8 seconds off of Ryan Hall's 2:04:58, the fastest marathon ever by an American.
But a huge 2:05:04 pb and 4th place is a tremendous run -- the best marathon of his life to date.
What is going on with D'Amato, Keira?

Not really. Wind conditions were very calm.

I’ve seen it before but it’s really stupid do it when those runners are so close together, with the chasing group clearly following the winner’s line.
